  1. And what would one propose to do with results?

    Create a 'utopia'?

IQ and common sense are completely different entities.

People are posioned in their opinions by constant brain washing and mind numbing media intrusions. Just look at the effect George Bush has on the people of the US. A complete breed of neanderthals!

  2. How about giving that same test to the Candidates before they can run for President or Congress too .

  3. Haha I just brought up this point the other day on Answers. Absolutely, the average person out there is not informed nor educated enough to choose the leaders of our country. Unfortunately the ignorant now far ourtnumber the educated.

  4. No, voting is a right granted to every US citizen.  We should work to educate the voters instead of denying them their rights.

  5. Yes, in a perfect world.

  6. No, just because someone has a high IQ doesn't make them smart enough to make proper decision's or have correct opinions on a subject matter, they should give a test based on the questions on the docket and only allowed to vote or give opinions on those subjects that they show they have at least basic understanding of what is being effected, and not just voting based on reguritated lopsided opinions of politicians

  7. Unfortunately, if you have a better system in which to govern, I'd like to hear it. Democracy is the best we've got.

  8. Then almost no one would be allowed to vote.

  9. The intelligence of the American voter has carried us for over 200 years, it's true that sometimes we have been lied to, and sometimes have operated out of fear or prejudice, but on the whole the American voter has done pretty well.

The only qualification is that you be voting age. You can have your right to vote taken away if you have committed a felony,  but any other tests or requirements are unconstitutional.

On another note, how would you test common sense, and who would be qualified to give that test?

I would be careful about suggesting a test like that.. I'm not sure you could pass it yourself.

  10. No.  Superficially, it sounds good.  But even an idiot can come with a good idea now and again.

  11. that would be nice...

    Unfortunately, that would never happen.

  12. Yes.

Only taxpayers should vote, and they should get the number of votes according to their federal taxes paid.

An IQ test should be given also--this would eliminate about half the voters and would be very healthy for the survival of our nation.

  13. My mom claims she voted but growing up she never once knew who the president was! There should be something very basic required to make sure you are at least awake.

  14. Heck no! If everyone was as smart, and knowledgeable as I, on how to run the world, and everyone in it, what would I do for entertainment? I need to come here to validate my own superiority in all things politic.

  15. We listen to the media all the time, how about their IQ's?

  16. They should take these tests before becoming parents or being issued a driver's license.

  17. Don't think so.

    Have IQ test in school.

To test their grading in mastering our creator's universal gifts of life as basic foundation of living human kind.

    To test their creativity.

So they don't function like a desk-top in the real world for their own survival.

    What do you think?

    Merry X'mas !

  18. I think they should have to take some kind of literacy test on the candidates and the issues. Too many people go with the candidate who is in the majority, making it appear they are betting on a horse race.

I also think the candidates should have to go through psychiatric testing before running for office.

  19. This is an issue about which I care a lot but I don't think your quesion is the right one.

Do I believe in a voting test??  Absolutely!!  A bad vote can be as dangerous as a mistake behind the wheel and we force drivers' tests to make sure that doesn't happen.

Not to mention the fact that the test is already mostly written and implemented in the form of a citizenship test.  If immigrants applying for citizenship have to take it then why shouldn't everyone?  From personal experince I can tell you that it's not as hard as you might think and only a few modifications would be necessary in order to make it usable.  The only problem after that is implementation but we could just have people take it at the BMV like they do the driving test or we could establish some new procedures.

The problem with your question is that it bases the test on IQ, common sense, and issues.  What we really need is a civics test for a sense of understanding of the system so we know at least that people know what they are voting for.  Testing on one's aptitudes is a ridiculously unfair way of determining voter competency.

  20. Well it could also be vice versa. We could be the fools listening to fools. In order to listen, maybe we should also take a test.

  21. Maybe you misunderstand the concept behind an open forum.  Many speak and can say what they wish.  You may think them wrong and I may think them right.  And that's ok.  It is a key part of democracy and freedom of speech.

And I can just imagine the bias you would put in the IQ test.  However, if you are interested, a country like Iran would go for your type of forum.  Good luck with that.

  22. i think the future presidents need the IQ tests
