  1. Well no! that's why it is called jobseekers - people seeking for a job - if you already had a job then you wouldn't be seeking one.


  2. If there was work they would be working and not claiming benefits.

  3. Yes, definitely - it encourages the scroungers to get a proper job sooner.

  4. could start a vicious circle with employers laying off their staff and getting the cheaper workers on the benefit programme.

    edit- a better idea would be to make them work somewhere for around 15 hours per week so they can still look for a real job and give them extra cash for the work so they can see the benefit of working as well.

  5. The idea of jobseekers is for those looking for work but haven't got one, so how did you come up with that idea? Even putting them on community service, sweeping streets or cleaning graffitti would take the job of someone else who was getting paid to be a street sweeper, more people would go on jobseekers when the council could fill there job for a much less wage, creating an even bigger unemployment problem. The simple issue is making it cheaper and easier for people to be able to stay on at college and go to university, giving people a better chance to find a job and stick to it.
