Police Arrest Possibly Drunken Man Celebrating Obama

September 1, 2008

CHICAGO -- A man who may have been intoxicated was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct early Monday after he was seen jumping up and down on the top of a car, celebrating Barack Obama's recent nomination for president.

Several college students observed the man jump up and down for "quite a few minutes'' on top of a car about 1:30 a.m.near the intersection of Congress Parkway and South State Street, according to a Central District police lieutenant

The students told police he was chanting about Obama and celebrating the U.S. senator from Illinois' formal acceptance of the Democratic nomination for president

  1. He was disrupting public peace. I don't think jumping on a car is an acceptable way of celebrating.
