Should people who know nothing about Rugby League be allowed to comment on representative selections?

If they were not allowed it would save them the embarrassment of looking stupid, which they do (often without being aware of it). Examples of this are people who think Billy Slater should be selected at fullback when he has the worst error rate in the NRL over the past 2 seasons, and has only played 6 decent games this year. Another would be people who think Darren Lockyer doesn't deserve his spot at 5/8 and Captain, after he has led the Kangaroos brilliantly over 20 of his 36 tests, and that he is the only current player in the 100 greatest players in Rugby League history.

I think the NRL should take note of what Freddy Fitler said on the footy show last week. Leave the rules etc. and decisions as to what happens in the game up to ex-players, for example, Gordon Tallis (just as an example). They once played the game, they know what is in the best interest of the game. I admit that every team goes out to win, but they also are their to entertain the fans. They know what is needed to make the game interesting. I think the same should apply with the selection processes. If they dont know what they are talking about, they shouldnt be in the process. I know its important to be objective, but I think thats a little over the top.

Lockyer should not b in the side. He has not proved any thing so far and he should b over looked, Prince is a better player at the moment on form so he must b piked right?> Lockyer is my favourite player and or  I here is Phill guld saying Lockyer this, Lockyer that bla bla bla He has been the worst player 4 the Broncos this season so far

Billy Slater is the only fullback in form at the moment.. so if u stopped and watched one of his games... like watched properly.. u may realise compare to other fullbacks he is the top right now... and its not just us who say that... its the selectors nd coaches of the NRL who are also saying Slater will more than likely get fullback for australia nd if not aust then QLD!

As for lockyer, yes he is a legend of our game and yes he is a great player but he is coming of age and they will/need to start bringing up these young guys.. Cam Smith for example.. he led Australia to a record breaking win against the Kiwis last year.. He has captained a premiership side.. so while u may stay loyal to those you know.. its time to let go so the new generation can step up..

sorry to say it mate, but you saying Billy Slater should not be the fullback makes you seem like the one who knows nothing about the game, along with Scott Prince he's playing the best footy in the comp. And he has been selcted by the way.

I was one of those people who posted a team containing Slater starting at fulback, and ricky stuart obviously agreed by selcting him, as all of us who "know nothing" did. As for lockyer, again its an opinion thing, but i agree with you, he was always gonna be the test 5/8

personally i think Slater is one of the form fullbacks of the season so far and he should be selected as fullback..... and when he is selected are you going to come on here baging the selectors? cos im sure they now a h**l of alot more than you.....chump!
