Should plastic shopping bags be banned or taxed ?

the best would be banning them so people will have to find other ways to carry things but if that can't be done, then taxing it would be better than not doing anything about it at all.

laws should be enacted insisting manufacturers of these products only manufacture with materials which are biodegradable, or recyclable.

taxed. a tax might make a lot of people decide to bring their own  canvas bags. if they dont, then the tax money could be used for things and regular taxes (sales? gas?) can be lowered. its a win/win solution. banning bags will just make a lot of (stupid) people mad. but those people happen to make up 90% of the population.

Banned.  Re-useable and re-cycleable bags are cheap, are sturdier and hold more.  I never use plastic grocery bags - ever!

Plastic bags can be collected and recycled. I give my bags back.

I prefer paper or canvas bags when I do my shopping. I always take my own bags.

In my opinion, plastics are getting better as they are even making biodegradable plastic bottles. Do a search to see.

Years ago, plastics were made with soy beans unlike the petroleum they use in standards today for manufacture.

Sorry for saying , but your spreading too much bull. The key word is "my". It's your Yahoo! page. Taking a poll, because your unconscionable, about whether plastic bags be banned or taxed should be done in Polls and Surveys.

Even then... it's an environmental and money issue.

You should look at the page and see who is doing the survey. Go to that site and give them a perspective on what your thinking about the future of plastics.

I'd rather Plastic bags be banned , Big Supermarkets are starting to charge us for the privilege, The only people that are reaping the rewards are the fat cats at the top.
