  1. With regards to Origin, the same question will eventually have to be asked of Melbourne and Canberra born players who play their first grade football in those cities. Under the current rules there is no Origin for them either. No doubt the NRL will create a precedent for them as with Carroll.

  2. mabye if they move to australia at a young age and are raised as an australian

  3. Only if they become Australian citizens.

  4. I would say it is OK to play for Australia as long as they were kids when they came out here, but not if they have played for another country. As for state of Origin again as long as they played junior RL in that state.

  5. Firstly all of those players are Aussie citizens. Just because they were born elsewhere doesn't make them less Aussie. Most of the fellas you mentioned have thick Aussie accents - especially Petero.

    Folau was born in Australia.

Secondly, Origin players are decided by their first top grade contract, whether it was in NSW or QLD.

Lastly, I think someone's having a sulk over the Origin result. Those players grew up wanting to play for QLD. They weren't snatched away and forced to play for the Maroons ;-D

  6. Yes and people like Sonny Bill and Benji should be able to play for NSW in origin, just like when they waived the rules for carroll.

  7. if they are good players why not. by the way most australians come from somewhere else, the only difference is when they came in

  8. It would be cool to see players like Sonny Bill play origin...but unless they become Aussie citizens, I wouldn't allow it....

It's good the way Origin is now....

In saying that I'm glad that Sonny Bill chooses to sit out Origin and plays for the Kiwis...I love them but they are a bit useless LOL

  9. nope

  10. The fact is that it comes down to the player. Kiwis who have played for NZ already cannot be picked for origin. I think to do this they would have to sit out of rep for 3 years or something thats y carroll played for QLD.

But you cannot restrict players that were not born here from playing. I mean alot of these people cam over as young children and grew up with the aussie culture. Australia is a fairly multi cultural country.

Sate of origin is the benefits of pledging your allegiance to Australia. Unless SBW and benji wanna play origin they have to give up there NZ jerseys.

I am against it but i no how eager they would be to play as everyone always talks it up. I think wat the NZRL need to do is to develop a concept like origin. My idea would be that of Northern Islands V Southern Islands. Or another one NZ v NZ Maori. I think this would eventually become just as intense as origin as you can see all the islanders boys these days are just big, they are bigger, faster, stronger and some even more athletic.

For this concept to be introduced i would also look to entering another NZ based nrl club. this would also give more opportunity for young NZ kids to stay in the NRL intead of having to go to england. It would also make the international game more interesting

  11. one word........ NO!

its state of origin, so unless your a new south welsh man or one of them (queenslander) you shouldn't be allowed to play!

if this was stopped it would make tournaments like the world cup more credible, (instead of being a walk-over for australia)

i also noticed of the 6 examples you gave 5 of them are queenslanders, this is telling me that QLD will do anything to win!

1 you missed was wan-ker willy mason who was born in NZ
