There is a new law here in Wabash that your pets must be on a leash. Even a cat. I think the police should be chasing molesters, drugs and speeders around the schools and parks. They have plenty to do but they arent doing it? The ASPCA should be going after the pets but then our town is too cheap.

  1. Small groups of highly vocal people who are out of touch with society demand it, and make a stink about it in the press.

  2. NO!!!!

  3. Literally?  No.  But there are reasons to have pets leashed.  I would rather have someone who can't follow a simple ordinace get a citation than to have my child be hurt by a loose pet.

  4. "I think the police should be chasing molesters, drugs and speeders around the schools and parks."

    People should be restraining their animals to free police up to chase "chasing molesters, drugs and speeders".

    BTW: everyone I contact thinks I should be chasing someone more important.  Animal violators think I should be chasing speeders.  Speeders think I should be chasing drug dealers.  Drug dealers think I should be chasing murderers; etc.

  5. actually that's the purpose of a public servant to do domestic help in the community;

  6. No, but if the law requires it the law officers have nothing but to do it.  Sorry guys.  They are the upholders of the laws, so they have the job.

  7. If you live in a small town and the resources of the towns budget is small, then the extra duty falls upon your Law Officials.   It is not easy to be a Police Officer in a small town.  They are damned if they do and damned if they don't .  Each individual is responsible for their pets.    It should not be a burden on your Police Officers.  In some small towns, when dogs are running  loose, the Police have no choice but to shoot the dogs.    So if you Love your pet, don't place the burdens on your Officers.     Go to your City Council meetings and demand that your town has a  Animal Control Officer.     But then you might have a tax increase.    Sounds like there is not enough money.  Why don't you volunteer to be the Animal Control Officer ???????

  8. Our city tried this. It didn't take long for a prisoner (human) to claim he got insect bites from riding in the back seat where dogs and cats ride.

    Health Dept. put a stop to it by declaring the patrol cars would have to be fumigated following the transportation of an animal. Cheaper to contract with the county animal control dept.
