Should politicians receive pay equal to the average American income?

throughout the year; and then receive the balance at the end of the year--experiencing the same life as average Americans?

Or, why do they receive higher pay than average income, aside from expenses?

The politicians should recieve pay equal to the average American--most of them are weathy anyway so why should they be paid maga money tax free to REPRESENT  the public
