There's a poll at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10103521 asking you to vote if "In God We Trust" should be removed from US currency. What do YOU think?

  1. No. It's just silly that a few people decide they are offended by something foundational and we think we need to change it. What if someone is offended by or doesn't believe in Abe Lincoln? Should we take him off the 5 dollar bill? How about women's rights? If they don't believe women should be portrayed in dresses anymore are we hoing to put lady liberty in jeans and a blouse? I think not.

  2. yes it should be. Not everyone believes in god and there are somany different cultures and beleifs in this country.

  3. Yes.  It was added in the 50s  because of the Red Scare (the communists) and really has no business being there.  We did fine before they added it and it serves no purpose.

  4. i am not religious at all, but... this is not a matter of do you believe in God or not?  "in God we trust" doesn't mean that our nation is pushing god onto people.  most are reading too much into this. it's not even really a matter of when that motto was put on our currency.  our nation was built on christianity and it's values.  that motto is honoring that.  if america was built on scientology and all that comes along with it, then it would say "in L. Ron Hubbard we trust" or whatever.  so NO i do not think that we should remove "in God we trust" from our money.  people get too pissy about things and they just have to argue or petition something and cause an uproar about things just to get attention. some people need to stop and pull the stick out of their *** and just leave **** alone. when this country was founded, we had christians.  not atheists, not muslims, not the jewish, but CHRISTIANS.  so everybody needs to just back off.  if you are going to try and change things make it something more important like fuel prices, taxes, or less s*x and violence on tv and in the media.  your wasting time trying to change what our dollar bill says on it.  and honestly, how is that going to REALLY help the U.S. and it's citizens??? think about it

  5. i don't think so.

    Who is it actually hurting?

(i have the same attitude toward g*y marraige... who is it hurting? Why would we ban it?)

  6. Personally yes. "In God We Trust" has no significance to anybody except the religious and if the west are so strong on their human rights as they claim to China then what about the rights of Non-Christians, having to look at their cash and think their holding religious voodoo.

    Craig.

  7. The phrase 'In God We Trust' was only added in the last half-century, so it's not that historic.

    Clearly it's untrue anyway.

The USA trusts in a massive and growing military.

God doesn't get much of a look in, expect to be wheeled out as a fig-leaf to conceal very anti-Christian messages of hate.

Perhaps more apposite would be "In Credit We Trust"

    At least it'd be true.

  8. No. The motto has historical and patriotic significance and does nothing to establish a state religion.

  9. Well, it all depends.

If we aren't trusting God, what are we trusting?

  10. No.  Our country was founded by Christian people.  Majority of people in this country are Christians of some kind.
