Question:

Should "Yaks" be close-trimmed in the summer?

They are harder to ride when cropped close, but the heat in Arkansas really seems to bother him. I take him to the pond every day and let him soak, but he still doesn't want to do much during the day.

The groomer got really upset when I brought him in for a trim. She refused to express his anal glands, and I was not generally pleased with the "Kennel Cut" I ordered.

I'm thinking of doing it myself next time. Do you think he will need to be sedated? Would a hedge trimmer be out of line to get the top, heavy coat off before doing the final trim on the fine haired coat?

Thanks!
