Should railroad tracks be built every 2 miles on streets in right lane for mass transit purposes?

Millions of cars would be removed from the road with effective mass transit throughout all cities and between cities. These trains run on steam heated by natural gas.

Teleportation, lad............ teleportation is the future, and just as likely as any mass transportation infrastructure development.  

"If you build it........" --- they ain't gonna come anyway.........

Yes it would be better less pollution less traffic and less road rage.

But even with natural gas the cost would be astronomical

also you would have to transfer between trains if you work on the other side of town that could mean up to 5 transfers could add an extra 45 million to your commute.

Not to mention the suburbs in NYC which means if you work in Brooklyn and you have to go to Manhattan that could mean 10 transfers and the time waiting could add an hour to your commute

Not to mention the maintenance cost that all those trains combined would cost to maintain $1,000,000,000+

It's a great idea but it's not feasible.

No.  Why sould people be forced into a government monopoly in transportation.  Cars offer the greatest personal freedom.

Yes I think there should be a credible alternative to the car, which we have allowed to take over our lives too much.
