Should rap(being poetry, poetry being an art form) be posted in an art exibit?

you can't be serious. i get insulted when people show me a bunch of worthless junk and tell me it's an art exhibit. art should be fine art if it is on exhibit. otherwise, it is all something a 3rd grader could do in his spare time without thinking about it. there is no gift or talent to it. therefore, it is not art.

I guess that's OK, but I'd think it would respect the rap more if it were performed.

I'm not one of those cultural elitists who think they get to say what form of self-expression is art and what isn't.  I can only express my own tastes.  In rap, I like the old progressive stuff by Arrested Development and such like, and also the crossover stuff that's done by Gorillaz or 1 Giant Leap or Art of Noise.  Maxi Jazz with Catto and Bridgman on 1 Giant Leap, or Rakim with Art of Noise going on about Baudelaire--that's rap with some depth.
