No matter what else is a part of any environmental plan implemented, this part on it's own merits deserves to be done for the savings as well as the environmental benifit, what do you think?

  1. Its one of the most important bits

To start Ive Changed all lights (a light uses more power than your computer, dvd, tv, and i you have mor than one to a switch they use alot of power CFLs use 80% less), put in 2 roof air vents, 2 skylights, increased insulation, and turn off all stand by cost me about AU$700

I am saving myself AU$ 300 1/4 of my bill a year and reduced co2 emmission by 3tonn

  2. Somewhat. I am a contractor, and figured out the repayment for cost of more efficient A/C units. The more efficient of course is higher. It comes out to about twenty years to break even. The govco has two big reasons for this plan; to have us use less energy to satisfy the greengeeks, and to have us spend more money to raise the economy. I understand both reasons, but a flourescent and incandescent bulb difference is nil. I know it reduces the power consumption by half, but you are talking about very low energy usage. Big corporations have a higher risk versus reward for participating in this plan.

For those of you that do not understand wind energy, you would need a large amount of land to produce wind energy. Also, think about the cost of the land. Real estate is high.

  3. It would reduce the use of heating oil, natural gas and electricity.

  4. Yes it should.

You could also harness waves from the oceans to produce hydro.

Solar and wind farms would be a good alternatives.

Just imagine if everyone had solar panels on the roofs of there houses? They could and should get a tax break and/or money back for assisting in the manufacture of electricity.
