  1. No, No. In india reservations for SC/ST have been given for 5-6 generations. Now they want to

include 27% for other backward classes, that

too in prestigious IIM , and IITs.The education in these inst. are internationally well known for its

standard. Diluting it is not good. Reservations

in high schools and grad level are ok, not any further. It will hurt and ruin the standard of our

institutions. Politicians will of course will get votes and come to power with this gimmick. National interest is not kept in mind. good for the country.

  2. definitely NO

it will surely give dejection to a worthy student, who studies well

many a times, only rich persons are getting benefited thru this reservation quota

the founder of this reservation quota should definitely be condemned

  3. Mandatory reservations or quotas based on caste should  certainly NOT be allowed in the education system.

By having reservations, the government is officially creating a caste discrimination policy which is totally inhuman. After such a dark history of casteism in India, the govt ought to create policies to end casteism. As far as my GK goes, no other country in the world has caste based reservations.

Reservations in education, govt jobs are basically a tool for casteist politics adopted by politicians for so many years after India's independence. The people for whom the govt has implemented reservations themselves do not like reservations. Why would a brilliant, meritorious Dalit like to be casted into a reserved seat or position.

Yes, we do care for the upliftment of several marginalized sections of the population, but reservations is not the way to go. I just think the government is finding shortcuts to promote its agenda of being pro-poor.

    I would like to ask the government;

Would a brilliant  meritorious 'Dalit/SC/ST/OBC' student be denied admission in the IIMs or IITs or for that matter in any good academy simply because of his/her caste?

I think the answer to this question would have to be a resounding 'NO'

A YES would mean the government accepting the existence of an official caste discrimination in the education system, for which it would have to blame itself, and Reservations would in-effect be a problem rather than a solution.

    That says it all.

Moreover, why do we want to create differences among students by  having reservations. Students being admitted in reserved seats would carry a low self esteem all throughout their carriers unless they've proved themselves meritorious to be among the other open category students. Its an intellectual divide! Why does the government have to help Dalit students by explicitly calling them Dalits!

I think the governement should take pro-active steps by which students from a weaker section of the society are able to get financial or other aid to help them compete equally with others. This is a long drawn out process and requires a sustained effort on their part which they do not want to do. A lot of the present politicians like Lalu Yadav, Sharad Yadav are from the so called reserved castes, but neither they nor their offsprings have had to resort to quotas.

  4. no
