Im in We The People team in california and id like some intelectual ideas on this topic were debating about. The 14th ammendement clearly states due process and equal protection to ALL PERSONS, but should they have those rights, and should they have the obligation to become civically virtuous?

  1. They should be granted the same rights as tourists.

  2. Each and every right comes with a responsibility.  If someone wants protection (a right), the person must be paying taxes (responsibility).  So only citizens and "legal" residents should be enjoying full protection.  Illegals, on the other hand, should only have "human rights", but I don't see why our Constitution should protect them when they don't pay state and/or federal taxes.  Illegals pay "sales taxes" but we all know that their purchasing power" is limited, so what they pay on sales tax won't even cover the energy that a traffic light consumes.

  3. No of course not. The country would be foolish to adopt that stance. What would be the benefit of attaining citizenship if they start taking away some of the exclusive rights? We already have a large group of immigrants that refuse to make any commitment to our country.
