I think it is a good idea to have a school uniform.  Some parents struggle to 'keep up with the trend' financially with their children.  School uniform ensures everyone is dressed and looks the same, which doesn't give the less well off children a complex before they even enter the school gates.

i like having one because then i dont have to figure out what i have to wear everyday. its already decided!

so yes i think it should be compulsory!

I was told as a kid that it help avoid the pointing fingers of better dressed children.

All it really serves is to help create the robots most education systems strive to produce. WAKE UP

NO! it definetly should not be!

every dress down day at my school, my energy goes way up.

when i wear this ****** uniform i get all hot and sweaty and cant concentrate.

and teasing is stupid. if you tease about clothing then your just an a*****e who wants to impress somebody.

if you give in to peer pressure than you need to get your balls back and wear what YOU like not what THEY like.

having taught in schools that do and schools that don't I think the schools with uniforms generally are better as far as dealing with peer pressure.  I always tell my students they should express their individuality through their brain and through their personality in school...outside of class they can wear what they want if that makes them feel better.

In the UK it is and there are reason for and against.

Certain pupils can be picked on at school for what they wear, school uniform can become such a bore and very stressing...!

Yes i do, it's a respect thing. Old fashioned i know, but it keeps everyone equal and sometimes helps kids so they don't have to compete with brand names.

yes it should.. stops peer pressure as obviously there are some people who can afford expensive clothes and others who cant.. reduces bullying aswell surprisingly, as if ur wearing uniform people dont know if ur rich/poor unless ur scruffy!

Not necessarily....But school uniforms take the pressure out of having to have designer clothes which some people may not be able to afford!!!

well whatever, i relly dont think it should be, considering most of the reason's people have compulsory school uniform is so everyone is equal ect ect, but that fails anyway! theres always a less expensive uniform and all the really poor students have to get hand me downs anyway so it really is so pointless. plus wearing your own clothes makes more of a statement about who you are, school uniform steals peoples induviduality.

Yes because that way all the kids are wearing the same and there is less chance of anyone being bullied due to what they are wearing. Children are so cruel and see someone that dresses different or doesn't have the latest designer labels as a target.

It makes everyone equal so the less well-off don't feel under pressure to buy expensive clothes to fit-in with their peers.

umm well some schools yes but i think it shouldnt because people can express themselves in what they wear!!! if we all wear the same thing it would be so boring because then it wouldnt bring any independence nothing special!!!
