my 3 year old daughter got a really bad sunburn on her shoulders yesterday. Shes developed a couple of blisters that already popped on their own. I've been applying aloe gel with lidocaine and giving her lots of fluids. Shes eating and playing but hurting. Should I take her to the pediatrician? please don't be rude. my husband took the kids to the pool and forgot about the time. the sunburn was an accident. he feels horrible about it.

  1. well. if it hearts her that much, you probably want to take her to the doctor to get it checked.;

  2. Does it look like your treatment for her is working? If it is, and she's complaining LESSER and lesser, than you shouldn't worry.

If her state doesn't improve and she's still hurting as badly as the first day, then please take her to her pediatrician so she can get some help for that pain.

I'm sorry to hear that; poor thing, your daughter. I hope your she will be okay. =D I'm sure it was an honest mistake. Take it as lesson for next time. ^_~

  3. Definitely take her to the doctor.  That has happened with my son before.  I took him to the dr. and they prescribed him a cream specifically for burns called silvadine (sp?) It worked really well.  It has like a numbing agent in it to help with the pain.  You could give her children's motrin to help with the pain too.  Hope this helped.

  4. You don't need to unless she starts throwing up or gets a fever or some other side effect. I hope she doesn't get cancer.

  5. Have you been giving her tylenol as well?  It can help with the pain.  If the skin looks like it's getting infected, rather than drying up and going away, then take her to the doctor.

No blame here, but please do note- getting burnt as a young person has more effect on skin cancer conditions later in life, so make sure your hubby slathers on the sunblock before taking them to the beach and frequently while out.  I did it myself to my kids, so I understand completely.

  6. sounds like you are doing what the doctor would say do anyway.  Other than giving you some silvidine (burn cream) for it.

don't forget the luke warm baths to relieve the pain also.  Growing up, we used vinegar as well

  7. she should go to the hospital as soon as possible if it has blisters you can also call NHS direct 0845 4647.

  8. yes i would because it might not go away untreated

  9. no she should be ok if you are applying gel,But if she gets any other symtoms i.e - headaches than you should take her to see a doctor.

  10. just keep putting lotion on her.. it will eventually start to go away..

I tryed using solercaine too..it will take the heat out of it and soothe the burn for a little while

    good luck!

  11. Nah, it's good for them =) When I was a kid I can't even remember how many times I got all blistered up because I didn't want to come inside. It will hurt for a few days but it won't kill her. Now if she got a burn like that every single day of the entire summer then you might have something to worry about. But once or twice isn't going to kill her.

  12. Sounds like you are doing everything the doc would tell you to.I like that you are giving her lots of fluids! That area will always be sensitive to sunburn now so make sure it's either covered in the sun or she is wearing a very strong sunblock. Moth

  13. Yes take her to the doc. just to make sure it is not bad,  as you don`t know how deep the burn could be. Hope she gets better soon

  14. Nope. Just keep putting lots of lotion on it. It will peel and go away eventually.

  15. yes.
