  1. There should be a smoking area

  2. I live in Scotland and I have to say that its so much better now that smoking is banned in clubs.

  3. Here in the U.S in California it already is.

No smoking in any public enclosed areas. This inculdes reteraunts, bars, clubs anything like that. But excludes the Native American casino's in Northern Ca they have seperate smoking/nonsmoking areas.  But the smoke travels.

We are spoiled here, when we go to Las Vegas it takes some getting used to. Even in the resteraunts it is a laugh when the smoking section is one table away from our nonsmoking section, like I said not exactly a forcefield blocks the smoke coming your way. Ehck

I think if someone smokes they should not subject anyone else to their toxic cloud

  4. yes the smell is terrible, secondhand smoke it dangerous

  5. Yes, particularly for premises without a no smoking area, there's nothing worse than going to a pub as a non-smoker with your mates then coming out smelling like an ashtray, its not very nice. :(

  6. Yes

  7. I think it is a monstrous thing this smoking ban.

I really believe that all non smokers should be barred from entering the pubs. And if someone lights up a Marlboro, then all non smokers should go outside untill the person has finished enjoying that great Marlboro taste.

  8. YES!!!! Roll on July 1st!!!

  9. yes its a good thing

for those that do smoke and those that dont

  10. i agree with you re food places but as a smoker i cant help but feel vilified and dictated to by the same government that make millions out of us smokers

  11. Being a non smoker I welcome the new laws however I have a few reservations.

Are we going to end up with half full tables with the non smokers sat on their own whilst the cool smokers will be outside taking five minutes off their life?

And in the summer when I do want to sit outside are the tables going to be full up with smokers and no room for anyone else.

  12. Yes

Legally it's unfair to ask people to work in a place which is dangerous for their own health.

It also makes business sense. There are many people (myself included) who are much more likely to go to a pub once smoking is banned. More than the number of people who won't go to a pub because they can't smoke!

If tobacco had never existed, and was invented today it would be banned in a second by the Govt. It's only because its been around so long that its considered acceptable.

  13. I'm in the USA where bans are everywhere for smokers. Some employers won't hire people who admit that they smoke. As a smoker, I do not have to smoke while I am eating or working and understand that people who do not are offended by it. I can go to a restaurant (or pub) and do not need to infringe on those who do not smoke. If you can't go somewhere for a meal or a drink without smoking, then you have a very serious habit. Simply excuse yourself and go outside to smoke and not intrude upon people who do not. It is quite simple and an easy way not to offend others.

  14. if it really effected people so much, wouldn't it make business sense to ban it from your bar/pub?

But, its wrong for the government to tell you how to run your business.

the way capitalism works is if people aren't happy with the way your business is ran, then they won't go there. and you won't make the money.

If you're a non-smoker and you don't go to a bar because they let people smoke, then thats your right. but don't tell a bar owner that they can't allow people who have been going to their bar for years that they are no longer allowed to smoke.

  15. IT IS already here in Wales.

  16. i think the business owner should have the freedom to choose.  the governement is getting to big for it's britches.  don't they tell us enough of what we can and can not do?

  17. I definitely agree with the no smoking rule in food places. I'm a smoker, and even I can't stand it when someone puffs smoke in my face while I'm eating. However, I hate it when people treat smokers as if they have a disease! Yes, smoking is a bad habit, yes, no one should impose themselves on others and all that, but people have other bad habits that are life threatening and they are being ignored! Smoking in ALL public places without facilities for smokers is a form of social racism and discrimination against a large portion of most countries' population. Extreme measures like that won't solve the problem. Provide a smoking room (not a few tables in a corner - a separate room so that second-hand smoking can be prevented) or allow pubs to buy a special license for smoking. That way if non smokers want to go to a place like that it will be their own choice and they won't be able to complain.

  18. absolutely works here in scoland. abroad as well.

  19. I am with you on the food places for sure....I do not smoke but I think that smoking should be allowed in clubs.

  20. Yes it should, and it will come July 1st. I cant wait to go to a pub/club then and not come home stinking of smoke. This is something that should've been adopted a long time ago.

  21. All those who answered sounds like you are from the UK.  Here in the US, smoking is banned in EVERY public building.  You can't even smoke outside on the hospital grounds.  Basically, the only place one can smoke is in their homes.  People are not even allowed to smoke in cars where children are passenger.  I agree with that.  Yet, statistics show that teen smoking has gone up very high despite all the warnings.  Whereas, those who used to smoke, have decided to quit.   I wish they would put just as much emphasis on drinking as they do on smoking.

  22. YES!!!!

  23. To go in to a pub and not come out smelling of smoke......bliss

  24. It already is in Scotland

  25. Already is in Wales and as a smoker i have to say its not too bad .. it can only be a good thing !!

  26. I do not smoke, but I think it only good manners not to smoke in an "eating place" regardless................... in pubs and clubs................they should provide smoking./non smoking areas...............I think some businesses will lose an awful lot of trade,  maybe businesses if they could provide better a/c to filter out the smoke??? but naturally this will cost money!

  27. OK so most people think its good to ban smoking in public place's, But i still feel it should be left to the owners of these premises as to whether they want a smoking or non smoking premises, but that's not going to happen. But for all  you non smokers think on, how long will it be before the government ban drinking alchol or what food is bad for you, so sometime in the not too distance future, you wont be able to drink beer, vodka, gin, or any other alchol drink, then as for food well we will have a choice between fish or salad !! Lets face it do we need to have our @rse wiped by our government, or are we all capable of making our own mind up about how we want to live our life's. I thought once i left home my days of being told what i can and cant do was over, where as in fact I'm finding this government want to replace my parents, and i don't need it.

  28. doesn't matter now we dont have a say in it

    just like everything else

  29. Look at the death rate among non-smokers who die of smoking related diseases that may convince you

  30. no if you dont like it then GET OUT! That is the one place where we Should be able to smoke inside a building! Or at least they should put a smoking room in side or something... just my opinion

  31. Yes.
