  1. i would love to see him play to see if he can handle the toughness of the origin series.he did played for nsw under 17 so why not play for the elite nsw.benji marshal and ben roberts played for junior kangaroos before playing for the kiwis on the test.nathan cayless  and frank fritchard are both aussie born but played for the nz.brent webb is a torres strait islander but played fullback for nz.it does not matter which country you'd oplayed for the test.as long you had played juniors in australia then can play for the state of origin if they are good enough to play.

  2. no way kiwis, islanders cant comprehend the rivalry, history and hatred for those three games a year.

it would be an insult to the pioneers of the concept back in 1980.  i believe players who are not selected for oz, nz or england can still play for other nations in the world cup though to help keep it a little interesting.

  3. YES, just because qld are scared they gonna lose. I bet if Sonny wanted to play for qld, they would let him play for sure.

  4. Yes , because Toni Carroll plays for qld and also played for NZ as well as Australia.

If the rules are correct, it is where you played your first senior game and so he can play for NSW, as could Benji Marshall, Nathan & Jason Cayless, Roy Asotasi and probably a whole heap of other players.

  5. yes i think he should be allowed

  6. i say yes

  7. Sonny Bill is Great... however the State of Origin is about Interstate Rivalry and National Selection.

Origin is for Australian born and bred players only... and unless the individual was going to severe all ties with their country of birth... they are not even worth speculating about, when it comes to Origin.

State of Origin is our national civil war, our grudge match... it is not open to international corruption.

  8. No because he is a kiwi, just as any player who starts playing in Victoria or any other state shouldn't play origin. The reason why origin is so exciting is because of the state rivalry. SBW has nothing to do with this.

And who would he play for anyway? No doubt his ex-Canterbury mates would be in his ear.

  9. i reckon hes a great player and he should be able to, so should Benji!

  10. Get your own players to play for you instead of stealing talent from NZ

You already got Hunt and Mason who should be back playing for the kiwis

  11. There is no way. No1 from Queensland wud eva agree 2 kiwis playing in origin bcuz we still have have a pride and dignity. Phill gud is a losser, just bcuz his NSW team cant win he wants SBW in the side. It wud b so wrong ppl playing for other countries other then Australia playing origin

U shud only b able 2 play origin if ur a Australian and r a queenslander or from NSW. Carroil and Hunt play 4 australia so they r Ausralian

  12. players like sonny bill and benji marshall and other young kiwis came to australia when they were like 14 15 16 and played  junior origin so i think they shuld be allowed to play origin karmichale hunt is a kiwi and plays origin for qld brad thorn played test matches for the kiwis and so did tonie carol and they stll played for qld so go nsw and pick sonny bill .

  13. no need to comment here JAMs and conda have said it already.

  14. yes,,he is an NRL player

  15. YES just because he ain't aussie it does not mean he cant play in the state of origin and i think whoever says he cant play because he is kiwi should go to h**l

  16. No, it doesnt matter how great a player is, he isnt from QLD or NSW, he may play for the dogs but he is a kiwi, its not fair on the rest of them who miss out...

  17. otherwised id probably say no, but since he did play in 17's and 19's origin for NSW and he is sonny bill williams of course he should be given a shot.

  18. quite simply.. NO

  19. No, it is an  AUSTRALIAN game between two AUSTRALIAN states. I don't think kiwis or islanders fit under the catergory AUSTRALIAN.

  20. h**l F****** NO!!!!!!

Because next minute you know....Aussie's will be claiming him as theirs!!!!!LIKE SO MANY BEFORE HIM!!!!!!

There's other bloody players to choose from!!!!NOT!!!!! another kiwi talent!!!!

  21. YES!!

Just because he is from New Zealand, why is it that he can't play?

He lives in NSW now and plays for the Canterbury Bulldogs who are a NSW based team.

So what if he plays for NZ in test matches?? People tend to forget that Tonie Carrol did the exact same thing.

If Sonny Bill wants to play for NSW let him play. If you all want to be racist about it, he might as well go play for the Warriors and then we'll see, who wants him to play for an Australian team.

So my answer is yes, Sonny Bill, Benji Marshall and other young NZ talents should be allowed to play Origin.

After all, sooner or later NZ talent will be 1/2 of the Rugby League Population.

If this rule remains the same who'll be playing Origin for NSW and QLD??

  22. no no no no no no. before he started playing rep footy he had a decision to make, aus or nz. he chose nz so no origin for sonny bill. karmichael hunt had to decide just the way he did. if origin was such a buring desire, he should have chosen australia

while i would love to see a player of his skill in a blue jumper, it would be a disgrace to see a kiwi wear it. he chose the easy was to kick off his rep career (inu makes nz side after 1 nrl game ring a bell?) and is now paying for it. I can accept someone wanting to represent australia as their adoptive home, but i cant swallow a player calling another country home and then wanting to stroll over and play origin. you cant do whatever you want, as a professional sportsman, he chose nz, so he has a committment to nz.

  23. If he wants to plau State of origin he should ply for Australia which he doesn't want. Guys like Karmichael Hunt nd Tonie Carroll (Although he played for both AUS and NZ) hve chosen to play for Aus to play for state of origin. If players want to play for NZ they shouldn't be allowed to olay State of Origin, its an Australian Thing.
