  1. yes

  2. He is ofcourse a superstar..He has always come back strongly in very tough situations. I believe he still has fighting spirit. I feel he should be given another chance.

  3. Sourav Ganguly is one of the all-time great ODI players of cricket.

IMO, he is the 25th all-time best out of some 1,751 ODI players who played ODI cricket in the last 38 years. This is not a mean achievement and I give his performances 80.3 marks out of 100.

The players above him are: Viv Richards (100 marks), Jacques Kallis (99.9), Neil Johnson (92.9), Dean Jones (91.8), Greg Chappell (91.5), Chris Gayle (90.9), Mark Waugh (90.5), Sachin Tendulkar (89.2), Zaheer Abbas (89.1), Geoff Marsh (88.8), Hansie Cronje (88.2), Lance Klusener (85.7), Imran Khan (84.8), Peter Kirsten (84.7), Andrew Flintoff (84.1), Carl Hooper (84.1), Sanath Jayasuriya (82.4), Martin Crowe (81.8), Gordon Greenidge (81.8), Aamir Sohail (81.7), Chris Cairns (81.7), Graeme Hick (81.1), Ravi Shastri (80.7) and Nathan Astle (80.4).

I think that selectors are not only doing injustice to this great ODI player but also to the Indian team by not selecting him. In the last 32 matches he played, he scored 1,240 runs in 28 innings, took 7 wickets and 4 catches. This was a an excellent performance.

The best Indian Team as of now is: Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Raina, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni, Ajit Agarkar, Murali kartik, Sreesanth and RP Singh. This will be a very tough team to beat.

  4. No ODI requires some kind of aggression and consitancy .  startegic batting is the key in ODI which ganguli is lacking

  5. yes .dravid should retire frm one day .but gaguly thas so foolish .no idea they removed him frm the side and  nt included in the 30 man probable for champions trphy

  6. offcourse he's india's best odi opener along with sachin

  7. Saurav is one of the best opener India has ever produced. This is true.No one has doubt on this. But we have to consider the fact ,he is now 36.We have build team for next world cup.So by that time he will near to 40.In India there is no drought for young cricketers. But i should say he must give one chance for his retirement. To end a wonderful carrier

  8. Yes, I can very sincerely say that Sourav Ganguly should be recalled to the ODI team immediately. Indian team looks like a corpse without a living soul without dada. He was the heart of the team. Ganguly has performed better than most other youngsters in 2007, and he deserves a place in the ODI team. His shortcomings as a fielder can easily be excused considering his exceptional standard in batting, and his capability of taking crucial wickets as an allrounder in times of need.

To be honest, Ganguly once enjoyed the status of a cricket superstar in India along with Sachin and Dravid. The trio was popularly recognized as the big 3 of Indian cricket. But with his axing from the job of captain, and subsequent expulsion from the Indian team, he had lost much of his tremendous popularity. Now, youngsters like Dhoni and Yuvraj have come to the limelight. Still, Sourav dada is a favourite name among many cricket lovers all over the nation, particularly in his hometown, Kolkata. I think he deserves to be called a cricket superstar, since he played with such committment for all these years, and achieved quite a lot, both as a batsman, as well as a captain. One thing is for certain, dada is a cricketing legend of India. Like him or hate him but it's really hard to ignore Sourav.

  9. Since youngsters are doing reasonably good job, I do not think that Ganguly should be called back in ODI.

  10. Yes!!He is Superstar!

  11. no

  12. yes absolutely he should be allowed to play for the odi series. the way he performed in the ipl after his team were on  the dying spot he was the one played well to get the team the 5th place. i think he is a man who can play odis more than t-20s and knows well how to build an innings and therefore should be kept in the team and if he performs well in this series then he would be here till 2009 mid.

  13. He is a good batsman but there are others who are better fielders as well so despite his past performance Ganguli's return to the ODI doesn't sound too promising. As to the superstar status we have only one cricketer whom we may call a superstar and that is Sachin Tendulkar.

  14. yes obviously he is a superstar of indian cricket.........

he need to be recalled to the indian side,or else india should stop playing cricket............
