  1. Pros:

Advancing science, medicine, and technology by leaps and bounds

    Smoke detectors.

    Better air conditioners and heaters.

    Cordless power tools

    Better water purification proccesses.

    Better solar panels.

Far more accurate weather predictions, hurricane tracking, storm forecasts.

    Better cancer detectors.

    Invisible braces.

    Better firefighting equipment.

    Saving humanity from asteroids.

The development of nearly limitless resources.

Answering fundamental questions about life, its origins, and the origins of the universe.

    Answering fundamental questions about physics.

    Thousands of other advancements.

    Cons: NONE.

  2. Just the everyday inventions that have come out of space programs justify continued investment.

Also, a major asteroid or comet impact is inevitable; it's just a matter of time. The next one could be ten years away or a million or tomorrow. If we don't have the technology in time to save the Earth, then that's the end of the human race.

  3. It has given us many advantages that we would not get. We can remain ignorant if we want to. The world will run off and leave you.

  4. The day our government ceases funding to advance our knowledge and understanding of the world we live in, the nature of the universe, and our place in it is the day that we might as well have an all out nuclear exchange and open things up for the next intelligence to rise up and do things right. It's inevitable that private enterprise will enter the picture in regards to space travel (already have, really) but a cutting edge space, science & technology program should always be fundamental to the collective of a free and prosperous nation. It not, well, then you're Iran.

To answer your question specifically, the pros are endless. The cons are very few if not nil-- risk of human life if a common one, but a weak. Talk to any astronaut, and i'd bet my pinky they'd tell you what they are doing is worth risking their life for. Not to mention, how would YOU rather die... in a space shuttle explosion while renewing the moon missions and being a part of humanities first step toward interplanetary travel?... OR... say in a coal mine... or say, building a sky scraper, or fishing for crabs on the bering sea?  Everything we do that is worth doing carries risk.

  5. yes please thanks

  6. yes, more funds. s***w obama. he wants to literally destroy the space program.
