maybe every tree would knock off 12 hours or a day? Wouldn't this help with prison overcrowding and climate change and deforestation as well as increasing a natural renewable resource at the same time?

  1. Wouldn't tax incentives for law abiding citizens work better than releasing violent inmates early?  How about using welfare or other public assistance recipients that are physically capable?  I think allowing prisoners time off their sentences is not only wrong, as it misleads the victims as to the time the perpetrator will do, it is political suicide.

  2. No, they should have to plant trees for possible benefits within jail, like a TV in their cell or better food choices.  Jail isn't a picnic.  The should be expected to do some sort of work considering what it is costing to house them and what their crimes have cost society.

  3. Good idea, along with other non-skilled duties that we pay our government employees to do or those that are contracted out.

I don't see why low-risk prisoners shouldn't contribute to society as well as pay their own way in prison.

Please send this idea to your State Governor, House Rep. & Senators. We've got both State and Fed. prisoner that owe society more than just their time.
