government help, or should flood-prone areas be off limits to re-construction? Our hearts go out to all flood victims, and both the administration and the candidates pledge support and help, but is prevention the best cure?

  1. No tax money shouldn't be spent, in in know flood areas they should not be allowed to rebuild.  If they do and know it why in the world would they not have flood insurance?  Yeah some can't get it, due to area but then don't build.

I am sorry for everyone lose and feel for them.

  2. Tax money is for the protection of the nation against foreign encroachments on our liberty.  Insurance money is for rebuilding in the wake of disaster.

What you propose in your question is a series of legislation that will limit our liberty and ultimately curtail our eventual prosperity.  There is no place that is safe from natural disaster.  There is no amount of preparation that can abrogate all risk of loss.

It is unfortunate that so many people are suddenly suffering.  However, I'm sure that as soon as is prudent Americans will flock to their aid without the government telling them to do so.  If you want to count yourself among that lot and help people, I encourage you to do so.  It is however unconstitutional and un-American to FORCE people to help who do not want to.  Hands off my tax money.  As for the candidates, notice how generous they are with OUR money?

  3. Sure, tax money should be used to rebuild the flooded areas. And while we are at it, we could use the labor of illegal aliens to do the work and not charge them any taxes on their income. Maybe we could also provide medical insurance for the illegals too!
