One Texas school district has OK'd it, and an Oregon school district went to court over it. What do you think?

  1. Um no.

  2. Absolutely not! The reason is that it is made available for anyone to get if they wanted to, and I believe that it would cause more harm then good. When it comes to a teacher thinking that she needs a gun to protect herself and the students, it will be the wrong choice!

  3. I think gun laws in the Us are slack and if they are tightened you would have less gun crimes. And no I think there should be security in the schools that have higher risks of crimes but arming teachers would only turn it into the wild west and God knows how many "justified" shootings there will be as a result. I say NO.

  4. Yes, with the proper training I can see the reason for allowing this.

"Teachers who wish to bring guns will have to be certified to carry a concealed handgun in Texas and get crisis training and permission from school officials, he said."

They are also going to be trained reasonably well to go along with this.  The only way I see this working though is by not releasing the names of teachers who have said guns, this way the districts can track how the teachers act and cross-reference if needed.

None of this would be necessary if people actually disciplined their children, but once again when the individual fails in regards to child development, society is forced to take action.

It never ceases to amaze me how lax we are with punishment for crimes and abiding law enforcement, yet we continually blame the groups we restrict.....1,000 times out 1,001 police aggression is justified and easily explained.  Its that 1 tenth of a percent that sticks out and thusly we all take notice.

When will we as a society stop making rules and laws designed to stop the exceptions without paying attention to the rule?

  5. I think that Utah has also allowed college students who qualify to carry on campus. The concept of a 'gun-free zone' seems to attract those who would do harm to others.

If the choice is sworn police officers or armed teachers in school; train and arm those teachers who are willing.
