or should they ignore them and teach only the English speaking ones. Obama has a good point, even though I don't support him.

  1. No, the students should learn english.

  2. Well, let me tell you that the way most of latinos speaks Spanish, it is very different to what you can call "speak Spanish"

  3. Plenty of teachers already speak Spanish, so it isn't an issue.

Spanish kids will learn English faster if they are taught by a bilingual teacher.

  4. They should have  Spanish speaking teacher's on staff, while at the same time, teaching the child English.

  5. English is the language of our country.  If you want to speak spanish go to mexico.  I don't want to learn spanish just so it will be easier for the ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS IN OUR COUNTRY.

  6. Should all teachers learn Spanish?  No.

Should there be classes to teach Spanish speakers English?

Yes.  But the expectation must be that they learn to speak English and then transition to English speaking classes within 18 months.

English is the language of the USA.  It is the language of the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, and the Constitution.

    It is OUR lanauage.

If you want to live or work in the USA you must learn our langauge.

  7. It's funny no one in the education bureaucracy ever asked an immigrant (legal or otherwise) their opinion on bilingual education. The NEA and their ilk thought that one up on their own.  The truth is immersion classes are the best way to teach someone English. Children's minds are much more malleable than an adult's mind. Usually after the first year they've caught on and make progress in their school work.

Medical workers however should know or have access to someone who is fluent in foreign languages of all kinds. This is because of the potential for life or death situations requiring an absolute certainty of what someone is saying.

  8. The legal ones should be taught english. The illegal ones should be sent back to Mexico. Easy.

  9. No,it is up to the students to learn English.

  10. Teachers in America should teach in English. If immigrants want their children taught in Spanish they can...it's called private school.

Without a good working knowledge of English you can't reach your full potential in the US.

That is true in every other country so why do people expect

    us to be any different?

  11. Absolutely not!  Why should they have to learn to speak Spanish?  The government never learned to speak any of the languages spoken by any of the indigenous (Native) tribes that lived here way before there was ever a United States; not only that these tribes had to learn to speak English & if the children spoke their own language they were punished for it.   Why is it now all of a sudden we have to learn Spanish?

  12. This is so sicking !

Where the h**l are you people think this up from !

    They break our laws !

They are stealing from the tax's payers !

There anchor children are greeting every thing for nothing !

You even think that we should change the system to meet there level ?

    Give them nothing !

Where the h**l are we ?

We are most defiantly  heading for a civil war !!!

  13. h**l no!

    This is America!

    Try this c**p in Mexico!

  14. When one immigrates to another country, one must assimilate to that country, not the other way around.

  15. no they should learn english.  after all they came here and the majority of people here speak english.

we shouldnt have to sacrifice for them

  16. h**l No, I am a teacher and I refuse to learn Spanish just to accommodate an illegals child!!!! Obama is a big joke and a waste!! I had a little girl this year who came from China "LEGALLY" and she spoke very, very little English.  By the end of the year, she was speaking English very well. The same with her parents, who were taking classes to assimilate. Should teachers learn Chinese, French, German and every other language to teach children -NOT!!! If you want to speak Spanish then go to a Spanish speaking country, The U.S. is not it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. These people chose to come to the US so they should learn English.  We don't go to Mexico for an education and expect them to teach us in English now do we.  Our teachers have enough to deal with.

  18. If you are going to live in this country of the United States

speak the "English Language" of this great nation.

I should point out that English is the MOST COMMON

    on the Planet Earth.

I heard in Japan to be a computer programmer you have to know

the English language because it is MUCH EASIER

to program a computer program in English

    and convert in into Japanese.

Instead of the other way around.

Also, in China the government has been having

their students learn English in their state run schools.

Plus, from what I heard it is not uncommon to see street

signs in English & Chinese together.

  19. I think teachers should learn Spanish, so they can teach it to the millions of illegal immigrants, and their children.

Most illegal immigrants are not well educated.

It's mostly people who enver bothered reading, any books. If they had been bgood in school, they'd have a job in Mexico.

Illegal immigrants, and their children, not only don't learn English, their Spanish is very poor too.

  20. He%$ to the no. I was speaking to a teacher here recently and she teaches on a side of town wtih like A LOT of  mexican students that didnt speak a l**k of English. She said that they werer making the techers learn Spanish. She also mentioned that although they were requiring it they were not willing to pay for her to learn it nor increase her salary. She says it is not fair for her English speaking students because she was having to teach in English abd then turn around and teach it AGAIN in Spanish. She felt it took away from her students learning because of all of the excess time she was having to take to do both languages. She also felt that time wasted could have been used doing what she signed up for : TEACHING!!! This is unfair to our students and our teachers!!
