Should ted kennedy go ahead and give up his senate seat ?

or at least when his term ends , not run again ? isn't everyone tired of the .. royal treatment .. he gets because of the ..family.. he is in ? i sick and tired of hearing about john f. kennedy , robert kennedy , ted kennedy , jackie - o , and john jr. is anyone out there with me ?? are you tired of hearing about the kennedy's ??

Only his constituents get to decide that, in the next election  If you want a voice in that decision, you should move to Massachusetts and vote there.

But yes, I am tired of political family dynasties - Kennedy and Bush jump to the forefront there.  Maybe there ought to be a law about close relatives holding office within the same century or so...but until there is, leave it up to the voters who have a say.

Trust me on this one, he has given up his senate seat by backing a half American and half Muslim to oppose what should have been a slam dunk for the Democrats after eight years of Bush ruining everything America has ever stood for!

He is dying from brain cancer and  will probably not even be alive in January  when the senate opens its new session let along long enough to run again. Don't you pay attention to the news?

The hubris of the Kennedy clan in famous. The complete lack of discriminating voters in Massachusetts in legend. He could win there if he died a month before the election. They will have to carry him off in a body bag.

Why should he give up his seat?  He gets re-elected fair and square each and every election.  Apparently the majority of the voters from his district feel he is doing a fine job...and not just because of his family name.

I am not a liberal. But, I do believe that as long as one receives the nomination of his party and the people of his constituency keep voting for him, he can remain the Senator.

Ted Kennedy is widely regarded by his colleagues in the Senate from both parties as one of the greatest Senators in the history of that body.  Hard to take eh?  Not only has he authored an outstanding amount of legislation, he has co-sponsored an amazing amount with Republicans during his decades of service.  He is regarded to be one of the hardest working of all the Senators even though his family is so rich that the man could have never worked in his life and never felt it.  Finally, his colleagues from both parties genuinely love the guy.  He is apparently someone that can argue and blow a gasket during debate on the floor of the Senate and then come by and shake his opponent's hand later and ask about the spouse and family.  I learned just tonight that one of his good friends in the Senate is apparently John McCain.  That is the reality.  His colleagues are going to miss him when he goes.  Because of the type of cancer he has been diagnosed as having, it is most likely that he will not live very much longer unless the experimental treatments he has undergone prove to be effective.

Ted Kennedy will lose the next election. I am stuck in MA with Kerry and Kennedy ... it is torture ...but they both did the unthinkable and endorsed Obama when Hilary clearly won in MA so watch them both get voted out.
