in the afl pre season cup they have the 3 pointer for when teams rush the ball through the goals should that rule be in the home and away season so that afl football can be more playing on then just taking the easy way out all the time

  1. Yes. I would like to see it but I doubt it will happen. Too many people are complaining of rule changing as it is now - let alone introducing another change.

I know they tried it in pre-season games a season or so ago; the last person touch the ball when it went out of bounds caused the opposing team to receive a free kick back into play; balls that bounced off the posts back into play, were play on. I liked those rules as it made the game more flow-on & followed the general rules of many other sports.

The traditionalists though, regardless of whether the rule changes improved the game, resisted change vehemently

  2. yeah it should so players dont run over the line all the time

  3. No, because who is going to be a reliable judge on if a behind was rushed accidentally or intentionally?

No. What Richmond did was thinking football. If your side did it to win a game, you would think it was the greatest play in football history. You would be in 7th heaven if it won the GF for your side.

  4. It takes away the tradition of the game, so NO for me!

  5. Well, maybey it would be a good idea to (as you mentioned ) not encourage the idea of rushing a behind in order to once again gain possession from the goal square.

It would intensify the hardness of the game and would influence the idea of more hard thinking from the players that are under pressure, maybey it should be put into the afl.

  6. YESS!!

lions would have won last night if the 3 point rule was in place

carlton rushed 5 behinds last night and in most cases they didnt really have 2

i think the 3-point rule would make the game alot faster as well

  7. I'm a bit undecided on this one. I agree on the principal and I see how it will make the players think before they rush it thru. The game will become a non-stop sport.....Is that what the fans want?

But then again, I am sick and tired of rule changes. The game has suffered heaps and has lost its appeal to the eyes of most followers.

  8. Absolutely.
