  1. No,Raise it to 80.

  2. depends on where. The speed limit on the highway near me is 70 which is suitable for that road.

  3. I live in Nevada and try 65. Also visit California and it is 70 plus you can do 100 at times.

  4. depends what part of the road your talking about.  Outside city limits, I think it should be 65mph

  5. I believe it should

  6. No, no, no.  We have never had such good cars to choose from in this day and age.  And we are still handicapped with the 55 mph.  I have driven out west at 75 mph and have always felt safe.  Somewhere I read that all new highway construction must be engineered to be safe at 85 mph.  I need  to find that article.

We the drivers of this country must start driving responsibly and defensively and stop having accidents.  Then it will be easier to tell the lawmakers, "Change the speed limit or be voted out of office".

  7. Inside city limits.

  8. it's the worst thing and the biggest joke in California, Holding the trucks to 55mph slows everyone down and causes huge traffic jams.  they should limit the freeways by lane, like a 55  if they need it (everybody) on the right and then 60,65,70 and 75 for the fast lane.  then enforce it to keep out the road hogs...if you are not keeping up with your lane, you need to move to the next slower one...

  9. I don't think it matters its not like anybody drives it and it is 65 where I live and they don't do that either

  10. As Sammy Hagar said "I can't drive 55!"

To begin with all speed limits are arbitrary. The main purpose is for revenue enhancement for the local police departments.

There is absolutely no reason to have a 55 mph speed limit on an interstate, or good state road, miles from any city.  A prudent driver will adjust his speed to the conditions regardless of the posted speed limit.

  11. NO not in America -- With some states being pot hole capital's

    -------- And -------

That is an answer that takes a little foresight

    55 mph means 65mph

On a clear day we are allowed 10 mph over the speed limit Except in tax deprived little towns..

So we are not talking of raising the speed limit from 55 mph we are really talking of raising it from 65 mph

And even when it is 55 mph how many of us when everyone else is going the 10 mph over 55 mph

How many of us has not touched 70 mph and remember this is still only 55 mph so if we do raise it to 65 mph are we looking at cruising on occasion at 80 mph

  12. where should it retained. america please state country
