  1. Darwin?

The law of survival, if a club is to dependant on handouts then set them free.

  2. Yes especially if clubs don't do whats best for a national game.

    Kangaroos.

  3. What, & make it like it was a few years back?

The rich clubs were the only ones winning premierships - Carlton, Collingwood (though they still couldn't win!) Essendon etc were buying their players from other states.

I know, they've not got the national draft system but dollars still go a long way to winning premierships - by having better traing facilities; supposrt staff & equipment; coaches etc...

Whenever anyone makes the comment that Collingwood should be made to play by the same rules as these other clubs you mentioned - all the supporters carry on in their usual selfish, self-centred ways.

  4. yeah for sure, they need to stand on there own two feet

  5. I don't think they should stop.  This is simply because I don't want to see any more teams go under and have to merge.  I think we should keep as much tradition and history in the game as possible, and therefore want to see all the current teams remain, even if there are more teams added to the comp.

What do you mean these clubs are a drain on clubs like Collingwood.  Teams getting a bit of money from the AFL really has no effect on the larger clubs at all.......

  6. Basically, the AFL drags in some of the bigger money by selling media coverage rights.

What it needs to do is ensure that there are sufficent, viable clubs for an attractive competition.

It is better to have long term clubs that have a pile of short term clubs that come and go from year to year.

The problem is that demographics in the support area of a club can change. Some clubs would find it easy to get good money to attract good player, but other clubs mght suddenly find that lots of supporters have had to move out of their area because there is no longer sufficent employment in their area.

The AFL could let them die, but there is no guarantee that they could find another club to replace them.

That is one reason for continuing.

  7. nah i disagree,if they did that you'd have a competition with about 8 teams in it,how could that be good for the game?,the AFL are making billions and as custodians of the game its their responsibility to help and support any team that is struggling-imagine if all the Vic clubs said stick it and went and formed their own break away VFL there would be NO AFL LEFT.

  8. No I dont agree.  Its the AFL's responsibility to look after the Victorian sides.  They are the backbone of the AFL and have so much history they should be handed $$$ if required.

You look at how much $$$ the new interstate sides have been given and keep getting, and its only fair.
