Question:

Should the Big Ten be removed from the BCS?

It is quite obvious the conference is ruining college football by producing weak teams with good records.

Is it time to remove them from college football so we don't have the Big Ten thumping in the championship game?

  1. let me guess, you are a SEC fan with no knowledge of college football history

wow, add about 5 points to my hatred of SEC fans and the teams that are in it

no class, no knowledge, no respect

  2. OK, I'll admit that I am just another ignorant SEC fan and I have been for well over 40 years.  I think that the point that he is trying to get across to you highly intelligent Big Ten fans is this:  The Big Ten plays weak teams (especially Ohio State) therefore never risking dropping in the rankings.  They get ranked higher every year than they actually deserve to begin with.  There is no championship game in the Big Ten.  Ohio State is 0 for 9 against SEC teams in bowl games.

  3. Thats allright for an SEC fan to ask a stupid question sch as this?

Why is that? What else would anyone expect from an SEC fan?

The Big 10 getting cut off from the BCS. This question really doesnt deserve an answer but I'll answer the question.

Which conference has the winningest program of all time? The Big 10.

Which conference has produce more NC representatives, the Big 10.

And who started the model for a conference in college football that most conference now model after. The Big 10.

SEC recent success is just that, recent. And if we want to talk about conference trash, then we Big East fans can legitmitally trash the SEC. Why?, The Big East seems to whip up on the SEC.

So to truly determine the strengths of each conference is to put a playoff format, then the conference that has produce more representatives along with most champions, then we can start talking about throwing out a conference until then, nope, notta one gets the boot.

  4. You're an idiot.  The Big Ten helped get college football get to where it is today and has probably brought home more National Championships then any other conference (somewhere in the range of 30-35 NC).  Not to mention they've probably been a representative for the National Championship more then any other conference.  Get off your high horse because whatever your conference is it will be in the gutter sooner or later and then we will all be asking if we should get rid of your conference.

  5. Terrible question. All conferences have their moment to shine. The SEC has stepped up right now as the Big 10 has moved down a little. Want another prime example of this- look at the SEC in basketball. They used to dominate the top 25 with the ACC. Now the SEC has taken a backseat to the Big 12, Big East, and Big 10.

The Big 10 is still stronger than the Pac 10, ACC, and Big East. I know this question stems from OSU in the last 2 championships. Well in 2006 they got worked yes, but OSU also beat the 2nd ranked team twice that year- Michigan and Texas. Last year was a rebuilding season for OSU, so I wouldnt even have put them in the game as a OSU fan. If teams like WVU could have beat a terrible Pitt and USC beat Stanford, then it would have been those teams playing LSU.

In the end, the Big 10 is not as weak as you think. Your irrational question stems from OSU in the national championship and Michigan losing to App St last year. (But didnt Michigan beat Florida in their bowl game last year?)

Should this question be removed from Yahoo Answers for being absolutely rediculous?

  6. Hahah I like the idea but dont want it to happen.Look the Big Ten, yes has been a major joke last year. But if you remember two years ago when ohio state had troy smith the big ten was actually good.Michigan was 10-1 headin into the bowl game,Wisconsin was 9-2 and Penn State was 8-3 so it wasnt so bad.But last year was awful.Just wait thought after Michigan rebuilds and Iowa and Penn State get back in to form it be more then just Ohio State running the show.Thank God for that!

  7. The Big Ten smells but it's still big time football.  They don't get the big time players that they used to.

  8. Of course not.  What we need is a playoff system to determine who actually deserves to be in the NC game.  Neither team was actually one of the best two teams in the Country that played in the NC game last year.

  9. All things are cyclical.  In ten years they will be saying the same thing about the SEC.  Sit tight.

  10. no just give it a couple years they'll be fine

  11. Oh God, another dis-illusioned SEC fan...

...neverminding the facts that the Big-10 makes the most money for college football, has the biggest alumni bases, the biggest stadiums & the longest history of winning, the Big Ten still produces some of the best teams (even during their weaker seasons)...

...or maybe you got such a woody over the Championship game (that's right, OSU made it to the Championship twice in a row...wow...they must really suck...) that you forgot that during this last bowl season Michigan beat Florida IN Florida, PSU beat Texas A&M IN Texas, and huge underdog Wisconsin d**n near beat Tennessee (game came down to the last minute).  And all of this during a season that was being called the 'weakest in years' in for the Big Ten...

Why is it that everyone who hates on the Big Ten usually has absolutlely no concept of statistical analysis and has done no research before saying things like this?

  12. I agree with Chris R. Eventually the WAC will be today's SEC. Right now Big 10 isn't very strong. But at some time it will be so I say no unless every team in the Big 10 loses like 3 games overall then maybe.
