Should the British Monarchy funding be stopped?

I don't want ANY of my tax money to go to them. I like the Queen, who on earth couldn't, she's been brilliant. I hate ALL of her sons, particularly Andrew and Charles. I HATE Princess Michael of Kent, and a lot of the other, more provincial "hanger ons". I have never met them. I care about my family than them, I would rather the money I slog away at work for to go towards me and my family than this stuck up, inbred bunch of Germans

Why should we pay for these billionaires tio live

I don't care if they add tourists, it's not like we;re the only country with a monarchy, people would still come here without them

  1. Plug the faucet! and put the criminal assets agency on a recovery mission.

The zoological and anthropological attraction now fostered for "tourism" could better be displayed in an appropriate compound.

Sony Corp. could be contracted to automate the investiture

Floor Show and McDonald's could  sponsor a Beef Eaters Guild.

Actually, to popular acclaim ,the ceremonal gags could be an annual "award" in the Premier League  . like Vic Becham  would do it ..first time  .. for free.( Beckhams would likely go super yuppy on repeat)  and image the prestige boost for Gillette   I note the much vaunted U.S "checks and  balances. I

These are just the random thoughts of BOOFUS but you get his drift!

  2. Yeah people would still come here without them but being part of our heritage etc it does bring a lot (& I mean a lot) of tourism to the UK

OK we wouldn't collapse but they do more good than harm

& also they help public relations

Plus who'd you trust more a member of the momarchy or a member of parliment?

  3. Cause we'd end up like America!

  4. You really should do a bit of research before coming on an ranting like this.  The argument that the Monarchy cost the British taxpayers money is and always has been a fallacy and it is the only argument that republicans keep on trundling out time after time.

Phillip E sums it up very well.

If you didn`t get it the first time I repeat - they don`t cost the taxpayer a penny.

  5. Stop it immediately.

This 'tourist attraction' nonsense has been peddled by idiots for years and has absolutely no foundation in fact.

A vox pop carried out in London 2 years ago with over 3,000 tourists could not uncover one tourist who had come here because of those leeches.  Not one!!!

The fact is, they are the head of a social construct that keeps the majority of wealth and influence limited to a small number of privileged people.  This continued theft from the British people is allowed to continue because the uneducated sun readers are easily brainwashed into thinking these morons have some redeeming qualities when they conspicuously do not.

Princess Diana was a thick sponger according to the press mere days before she died.  After her death, the machinery kicked in and we were all told she was the 'queen of hearts'!!!!!!

The whole thing is brainwashing.  As for being like America....How?????????

  6. They don't do anything now and they don't deserve the money we have to give them from our taxes, its unfair how they get loads of money and they don't do any work for it! even the prime minister had to do a lot to get to where he is and do tons of work and they shouldn't be our royal family they should be germanys because they are german. If we didn't have them then we wouldn't have all this land wasted on them when we could be building houses or nice places to go and if they weren't there the tourist industry wouldn't suffer we would all have more money because a load of posh retards wouldn't be wasting it.

  7. Move

  8. Stop ranting.

  9. I have written to the press more than most about this parasitical family, the sooner the sycophants that touch their forelock to them realise exactly what use they are the better, which is zero

    Sorry the answer is YES

Did phillip E. pay for the last weeks helecoptor flight then,

and all the towns police protection when the show their unwanted faces

  10. Here we go again. People showing their ignorance and jealousy.

Firstly, the monarchy costs the UK taxpayer absolutely nothing! The comment about the Crown Estate was almost right, though a break down of fact would have been better.

For the tax year from  April 2006 to April 2007, the Crown handed the UK Government just over £200 million. In return, the monarchy received the Civil List and Grants in Aid, about £38 million. Even allowing for the largest estimated cost of royal protection, which The Times guessed at about £100 million, the total cost of the monarchy was more than offset by the money the government was given. Because monies for the monarchy are seen as being from the taxman, does not imply they are derived from the tax payer. Sorry, but the Civil List isn't a hand out to billionaires. That is just fictional propaganda. Instead it is a hand back, dating to an agreement between parliament and King George III in 1760. Even 'The Guardian', not a newspaper known to do royalty any favours, has had to accept this.

To answer the question directly. YES, the funding should be stopped.  Not because I disapprove of them, but because it would remove completely the idea that royalty is supported by us poor little taxpayers and would rid us totally of a key anti-royal argument, even though it is already based on a false premise.

Secondly, the Queen is actually half Scottish and Prince Phillip is partly Danish. Prince Charles' marriage to Lady Diana (who was English), guaranteed a monarchy with a greatly reduced German heritage. All that nonsense about inbreeding, is a thing of the past.

Finally. If you really want something to hate, how about the fact that for every person in the UK, £3,500 of your tax payers money has gone to support the Northern Rock Bank?. More than the cost of the monarchy (which I repeat, none of us paid for) for the past fifty years.

  11. If none of "your" tax money went to them then they could say they needed back the Crown Estates (which legally they could do), the Crown Estates add £60 biilion a year to the treasury coffers. The Queen only receives money for events and engagements she carries out on behalf of the nation, everything else is paid out of her own fortune.

Do you really think tourists would come her as much to look round palaces that are just museums, the whols point of going to Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle is the fact that they are working royal homes.

Hate is an extremely strong word, do you really hate them or just dislike them.

  12. I agree, I do support the royal family and understand that we do need them.

I also feel that there are many people, as you have mentioned, who are "hangers on". Its these people who should not get tax payers money.

The Queen does have an important job, she should receive a set salary and have the tax payer pay for trips political to America etc. although no one else should get any of our money, they all earn enough money to support themselves from their privately owned estates.

  13. I think they should be modelled on the Monaco royal family.  Only the very closest in line to the throne get priviledged positions, they should get assigned the accommodation with less extravagances around.  I don't believe they deserve constant servants/dressers/chauffeurs and everybody bowing to them.  That is ridiculous in this day and age.
