Should the Cubs trade Cedeno and Marshall for George Sherrill?

Yes the Cubs have kerry Wood as their closer and maybe Marmol in the future but Howry has struggled this year. Plus the Orioles are looking for a shortstop. the Cubs have Theriot who is a .300 hitter so there is no room for Cedeno at Short. The best case scenario for Cedeno is to move to 2nd next year but Fontenot may have the nod because he hit left handed and he and Theriot are a formidable dp combo and were together at LSU.

If the Cubs acquire Sherrill for the 8th inning this year, they could try to resign him and move Kerry Wood back into the rotation. Woody's shoulder should be stronger by next year to be stretched out. With Wood Zambrano Harden Dempster and Lilly, the cubs could have one the best rotations is baseball and have Sherrill to close.

  1. wood said himself that he cant throw 60 pitches ever again so no that is a bad idea , the cubs are good enough right now with marquis, lilly, harden, dempster and big z

  2. when i first started readin this i thought itd be dumb but that rotation would be great and cedeno isnt good enough to beat the riot or even fontenot that would be great if woods arm holds up for more than a couple of innings

  3. Can we just throw Howry in their for bits and giggles. We do need an 8th inning man since we can't trust wood coming back. As for Samjardiza, hold your horses, kid still needs a lot of work. He did give up a run in the ninth yesterday.

  4. wood needs to stay in the bullpen or else he will get hurt again

and they already have a future closer in samarjdiza

  5. I would do it but only if it was Brian Fuentes instead because George Sherrill isnt as good as everybody says

Kerrys not going back to the rotation, we cant take that chance so thats out of the question...I say the Cubs releas/trade Jason Marquis and do the same with Ted Lilly and maybe a few other players and try to pick up CC Sabathia and then let the 5th starting job go to either Marshall or Samardzija (whoever plays best in spring training)

Although thats not likely to happen I would definitely be glad if that happened

In the end, Id rather have Brian Fuentes but George Sherrill would be a good arm for the 8th inning and a good closer (both he and Marmol) until Wood comes back.

But I doubt they would make a move because reports as of late say that we wont make any moves but I sure hope we do.
