Should the English National Anthem be played in Croke Park?

Considering that "On November 21, 1920 Croke Park was the scene of a massacre by the Auxiliary Division. British police auxiliaries entered the ground, shooting indiscriminately into the crowd killing 13 during a Dublin-Tipperary football match. The dead included 12 spectators and one player, Michael Hogan. The latter, Tipperary's captain, gave his name posthumously to the Hogan stand built four years later in 1924."- Wikipedia

I have my own opinions in whether the game should be played there at all, but what about that anthem? Does anyine think there may be trouble before, during and after the game?

Time to move on , as I recall the Republic were left wanting

  during  WW11, leaving the lights on to help the bombers ,

ffs rugby is a sport and all of our countries have commited horrible acts over the years so lets move on.

And seeing as god save the queen is the national anthem of england it should be played.Time to move on i feel.

This very thing was discussed last night in the pub. Some were against it and others didn't object - so it was a split decision. If it was a gaelic match the crowd would be against it but rugby supporters(and there will be lots of unionists from the North there) will not have the same problem with it.

However, I feel sorry for those players who have to stand for this most awful of National Anthems. If I was English I would want to change it.

Feeling will run high about this but lets hope there will be no bitterness. But the English should be made aware of their dreadful history in this (Ireland) country, their evil methods going back hundreds of years

Don't forget the reason for the massacre!!!  The day before it happened, 12 British Intelligence officers were assassinated by an Irish gang.

Why would there be trouble amongst Rugby fans and players? This is a SPORT not a POLITICAL battle!

All respect should be payed to anyone who has lost their life in that way, but people who were not even born then need to look forward instead of trying to use past history as an excuse for their anger today!

im afraid i dont think it can be avoided but i think that it wont be recieved well by the crowd and i think it will really hurt a lot of people across the nation because of what happened there in 1920 and 1924

I'm not going to rehash everything in history over a bloody rugby match.

Either move on or don't, I don't care anymore.

It seems us English are constantly asked to be the nice guy. Well it's time for others to take a look in the mirror.

Holding on to petty grievances as if it's a national identity.

Well if your national identity is based on hate, it's not much of a country.

Rant and rave all you want, I for one will no longer acquiesce to others prejudices just because I'm English. It's time for everyone to start living in the real world.

Two of the Croke Park Stands were named after brutal attacks by the english on the irish. it should be played but i wouldn't mind a cry of boos by the irish

Of course it should: that was a terrible thing but almost a century has passed since it happened. I don't think anybody seriously expects any kind of crowd trouble around the game because rugby crowds just aren't like that.
