Should the European Union invite some of the States in USA to join the EU instead?

People sometimes positively argue that there are lots of reasons Great Britain should leave the EU and become a new State in the USA.

The EU is doing pretty well at the moment... should we invite a few of the states of the USA to leave and join the EU instead? I think the blue flag with a circle of gold stars flying over shops, house, and businesses in somewhere like Texas would be positively welcomed.

  1. Good question, but in reality the only state in the US that can leave the Union of the USA is Texas, all other states cannot leave the Union. To a point you can think of each state as a little country forming the Union which is the USA. But if the state that I live in (Washington State) could leave the Union I would want to be more Aligned to a Asian Country than Europe. Not being anti-Europe but certain American states have more interest in Asia than Europe, and Asia is closer for me.

  2. I think it would be cool if GB was a USA state! But i dont think itll be cool for Texas to be part of the EU. Not that its even possible or anything...

  3. LOL...save your invitation. Why would America want to become a weak and inconsequential  EU country.

No thank you, we have all the power and money we need. Perhaps europe should join the USA

  4. sounds terrific. which one first? i would suggest texas. they are apt to vote for anything there. they are very open to new ideas in texas. cannot get florida, but we could if we could get cuba when fidel croaks.

  5. Are you dreaming!

  6. Legally it's impossible. The EU is based on a treaty, and the US Constitution strictly forbids individual states from entering into treaties with other countries.

But, I agree there's a lot we could learn from "Old Europe" if only we'd get off our high horse and listen.

  7. You are confused. Many think Britain should leave the EU and not join any union. Likewise America isn't going to join any union either. it only benefits the poor countries

  8. The states with the highest nasar ratings

  9. LOL, I once posted a question along those lines, but it involved separating the USA into 2 countries, Red states and Blue states.  I was indicating the lack of unity and how Conservatives and Liberals were constantly at each other's throats.  It was meant to be more of a joke, but I got some interesting responses.

But I seriously doubt that any but the most extreme left-wing nutcases would entertain that proposal with any sincerity.  Our Socialists are merely "left-on-center" in Europe.  While our Conservatives are would be thrown in jail in Europe for inciting the populace to revolt.

  10. I am from Arizona , i would absolutely LOVE for say....the southwestern US to join the EU and no longer be a part of this idiotic country. a switch like that would have my vote and probably a majority of others. Texas would never do that though, they are trying there best to break away and become independent. AZ was one of the last to join (just in the last century) and i think we would have been better to join Mexico even there The United States.  sorry i rambled a bit but i liked your question and definitely have an opinion on that!

  11. no keep them out of our business, in fact ,  cut them off.

  12. No. To join the EU, the state will have to be a nation and in Europe.

  13. No one in America has give a thought to U K becoming part of the U S but I know y'all think you should be allowed to vote in the U S

  14. why would an american want to live under such a corrupt outfit as the united states of europe, the flag of twelve stars in a circle isent their a prophesy about the last anti christ having stars about his head, lets face it theres room on that flag for a picture of someones face right in the middle, in the words of the late nat king cole..america "stay as sweet as you are."

  15. It is a novel idea, and I am certain that Texans would jump at the chance, but the states in the US do not function independently on the level that you are suggesting.

  16. A state that is part of the United States cannot secede from the Union.  We proved that little bit of law back in 1865.

  17. No.  And that's a laugh if some in Great Britain are seriously thinking the USA would ever allow the UK to become a state.

Twisted Soul:  You don't have to wait for a vote.  You can just move to Europe.  It's not rocket science.  Try it.  I did.

  18. Are you on some sort of hallucinagen? Now that would really solve our problems. Have you seen the statistics on the percentage of the population in the E.U. countries are radical muslim's.  Check into it. It 's pretty scary. It is rapidly approaching 50%

  19. if ( and i suspect its not ) this is a serious question your a r****d, and you can stick that EU flag right up yours or any other pro Europeans ****
