Question:

Should the Jets give up anything to get Brett Favre?

I'm a Jets fan, and I'm convinced that we are a good QB away from making it to the playoffs. I think that Brett Favre is the missing piece to our team, he is a great leader, he has the toughness to play in New York, and most importantly he can actually throw the ball at least 25 yds down the field unlike Chad "Rocket arm" Pennington, lol. Right now the Jets are desperate, and we're in a "Win Now" Mode, we should give up anything to get Brett Favre, even if it means selling our souls to the Devil (well maybe not), but seriously we need to offer them a 1st round draft pick and a 3rd round pick to get him.

  1. 1st round pick.  If you get him I hope you do well to prove to Ted Thompson that he is a dou#he box.

  2. Yes, Then all the Dolphins have to beat is an old washed up QB.

  3. You would offer a 1st and a 3rd round pick for a soon-to-be 39-year-old QB who didn't even want to play football a month ago? For all the talk about Favre being the "missing piece", remember that Brett Favre has won 3 playoff games in the last ten years...that's exactly one more than Chad Pennington.

I'm just saying, you expect Brett Favre to pick up exactly where he left off in 2007, only with a new team, new coaches, a new playbook, and virtually no practice time. AND you think the Jets should cough up two high draft picks for him. I don't think he's worth all that.

EDIT: See? They only gave up a conditional 4th round pick for him. Glad you're not the Jets' G.M.

  4. Old QBs don't learn fast enough to have an impact.  You wouldn't see the best of Favre till likely the end of the season.  He ain't it.

  5. I would rather see Favre in NY then TB cause we have to play TB later this season.  It appears NY is opening up more for a trade consideration.  NY wouldn't have to give up as much as TB, but a good offer by TB would be difficult to resist.  Favre never had a solid team around him since the Super Bowl runs (until last year).  Therefore, yes, if you get Favre the Jets have a legit chance at making the playoffs.  the Packers D was never ranked higher than 27th from about 1999-2004, yet, Favre carried that team on his shoulders and into the playoffs each season.  That is enough to explain that Favre gives any team an opportunity at reaching the playoffs.  I would be happy to receive a 1st Round Draft pick from you.  It would be great business for both sides and would finally end the Favre Sega.  We don't need another QB though.  Hopefully things work out and I wish Brett Favre the best of luck wherever he goes.  Go Pack Go!

  6. No, if brett turns on Green bay after so many years, he'll do the same thing to a team who he wouldn't have been with for over a couple weeks.

  7. No, but they could possibly get Favre and send him to Tampa for the likes of a Chris Simms and another player or draft pick which would be an improvement.

  8. Give up ANYTHING!

As a Pats fan I hope you don't get him, but that's only really because you've got two REDICULOUS WRs waiting for someone with a pulse to throw them the ball.

Crotchry and Coles are crazy good and if they had a QB to throw to them (and an O-line to block for the QB) they would be darn near unstoppable.

I think Favre to NYJ would be a good move for the Jets, but I think Favre would have a hard time in a completely different offense, a sad O-line and a, how should I put it....., "difficult" set of coaches :)

edit: you called it so I have to give it to you. I starred.

You're O-Line was attrocious last year and you needed to pick up more help, But 2 ageing O-Line players doesn't magically make your line dominate....

Grats on Favre, but you still won't beat the Pats once this year. Bet on that!

  9. I think you are spot on with the Jets biggest need being at QB.  I agree with your valuation of the need.  I think a first round would be enough.  You make an offer and wait.  But, as long as "Noodle Arm" is your passer, you are not in it.  In fact, I wonder if the Pats could win with him in their lineup.  Since "Noodle" was a first round pick management always wants to avoid the negative publicity. But you cannot throw the season away to save face.

  10. if they want bret farve theyr going to have to make some big sacrifices
