Question:

Should the Kama Sutra be taught in school?

In other cultures, the youth were all educated in the Kama Sutra, which included teachings about love and s*x as well as the social aspects of courtship and etiquette. Do you think these people were better off for having been taught this? Is it something that our society should embrace?

  1. No, I think it's still up to parents to teach their children about love, s*x, courtship and etiquette.  Perhaps parents could be put through a course on all those topics during pregnancy, so that by the time the child is born, at least the parents have the foundation to be able to teach something positive on all those topics....

  2. It should at best be an optional course maybe at a university or community workshop.  Not anything high school level and under.  A lot of people do not even support the teaching of sexual education that is not solely absence based in America, so I doubt they would support learning the Kama Sutra.

  3. I think American society is too diverse to be able to implement something like that in the school system. This country is such a mixture of cultures that you're bound to offend someone by trying to teach this. With so many groups, cultures, and religions anything concerning s*x, dating, and relationships is going to have to be handled delicately so that nobody's beliefs or morals are offended. And that simply isn't going to happen in a country where sexual education is still stuck on "abstinance-only" in many states.

  4. What other cultures teach the Kama Sutra?  I'd love to have a link to prove your information.

    Sorry, just a question?

And, no, we don't need to include this into our public education.  I don't want to develop a grade level curriculum for them to be tested on, but I do the kids would do their homework.

  5. no i do not think that kama sutra be taught in school.  on the other hand, i do think that etiquette and moral instruction should be included in their "life and living" elective or any other elective.
