Seeing as they tackled the moon landing, why not 2012?

  1. Unfortunately, there's no zaney aparatus or exploding hastily constructed facade / model / vehicle that could be used to test this theory. It would be an hour of them peering in a telescope, and not seeing Nibiru, or of talking head book-learnin' stuff that wouldn't fit the format of the show.

About the closest they could get would be to have Adam dress in a burlap robe, carry a gnarly old shepherd's cane, grow out his beard, and then go stand in a street corner yelling out "REPENT! THE END IS AT HAND" and see if anyone believes him. If nobody believes him, then the 2012 myth is <CLANG!> busted.

They just need to send out the deprogrammers to erase this myth from gulliable people's brains, since there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of cultism going around to keep them busy at the moment.

  2. That's not a bad idea, but I think they like to do experiments. There wouldn't be any cool stuff they could use or build or wreck. Face it, that's what attracts viewers.  On the other hand, they could do something out of their normal style and just do an academic investigation, talking to experts, showing how the Mayan calendar works, etc.  It might work since there is so much attention being paid to this 2012 stuff.

Go ahead and suggest it to them.

  3. NO!

Don't get me wrong -I love mythbusters and the Moon Landing show was awesome

    But what would they do?

    Really?

The problem is that while the moon-landing hoax lends itself to their way of mythbusting - I can;t see what they would do...

If you can tell me how they might go about busting the 2012 myths I can be convinced...

  4. Nope. It's Mythbusters, not Prophesybusters.

  5. Wish someone would put this HOAX to a fast natural death!

We get 100 questions per day on this subject and the Mayan Calendar!!!!

  6. No, the last thing we need is people claiming the MythBusters are in on the hoax and asking another 20 questions a day about "did the mythbusters get 2012 wrong?". Besides, like the above answerers said, how are they actually going to test stuff? Maybe they can instead make a documentary, "what the conspiricy theorists don't want you to see!". That would turn the tables on em!

  7. How could hey disprove something that has not happened yet? The only approach at this point would be to interview experts and record their answers, but even then, a waco could still claim that does not address the possibility that a (say) a rogue black hole (as opposed to a silly galactic alignment) would do us in.

Exposing idiots (with lots of suitable qualifiers) about 2012 would be more in line with Penn & Teller "Bulls Hit" (actual title of show altered so as to prevent YA from blanking it).

  8. Well that would be cool, but they do stuff that has already happened or not happened. This is in the future so I don't think it would work out too well. It might not have enough action either. I mean I honestly would rather see other myths.

  9. Were i'm from the Discovery channel handles the show Mythbusters, so i think Daily Planet should do one of there special made for T.V. movies like that one they did called "Alien Planet" and "Walking With Dinosaurs" but they should call it "Debunking 2012" or something like that.

  10. How could they test it?
