Should the NBA consider taking the 16 best regular season records?

Instead of taking eight from East and eight from West maybe just take the 16 best regular season records but still giving priority to division winners. So that a team like the Warriors won't be left out.

  1. No.  That would be like saying in the NFL that they'll take the 12 best teams from both the AFC and the NFC, and for most of this decade, the AFC owns the NFC as a whole.

In 20 years, the Eastern Conference could be just like the west is right now and people may have the same dicussion, except that Western Conference teams' fans of teams with sub .500 records would say that they should still get in because they're the 7th or 8th best in the West.

  2. yh as long as ma sixers are in

  3. yes that would be good. i dont know why they don't do  playoffs would be more exciting.

  4. i agree because then instead of haveing the hawks(even though they kept up with the celtics sent them to game 7) and the sixers(even though they kept up with the pistons)

    1)Boston

    2)Detriot

    3)LA

    4)Hornets

    5)Spurs

    6)Rockets

    7)Jazz

    8)Suns

    9)Dallas

    10)Orlando

    11)Denver

    12)Golden State

    13)Cleveland

    14)Washington

    15)Portland

    16)Toranto

  5. The reason they have conferences in the first place is to spread out the talent evenly. When a conference is filled to the brim with strong teams, the competition for spots will get very rough. So players have no qualms about moving to a "weaker" conference as they'd get better odds in moving up the playoffs.

In a situation where you can have up to 12 teams from one conference, there will be a disparity in the odds to reach each conference finals. The stronger conference will have more spots and thus more incentives for top free agents to sign with them.

The stronger conference will get stronger and the weaker conference will get weaker.

With the current system, weaker teams still have a chance to get top free agents in addition to the talent they get from the draft.

  6. whatever you may have to say. THE NBA IS FUCKED UP cause of that Donoughty? whatever his name is..

  7. It's a good idea, but it won't happen.

There is a east and west conference for a reason.

This is the United States where money comes before everything. The fuel costs alone from traveling east to west would be substantial. And players would suffer from jet lag and performances would be lackluster.

Though it's not fair that teams like the Warriors get left out, the whole east vs. west brings out competition and sets up entertaining and revenue sparking rivalries because of their playoff histories.

    i.e:

    Washington-Cleveland

    LA-Boston

    SA-Phx

  8. Im a Warriors fan, and yea I would love to see the Warriors make it to the playoffs after finishing with 48 wins last year.

But all in all, tha would just jumble everything.  How do you create the playoff matchup now? It'll be a lotta east v. west in the first round and the rest of the rounds.  And it would make it so east and west wont even be divided much at all.  PIstons v. Cavs for the NBA Championship.

Idk, just somehting about West v. East..just so traditional, that its better to leave it as it is.

If the change does occur, i get the feeling scheduling for East and West will change as well.

  9. Yes but in a different way like brackets in ncaa tourney

4 brackets, one is west divsion leaders, east divison leaders, one wild card

then other 2 are for the plain old best teams

example of how this years bracket would have been

    East

    1. Celtics

    2. Detroit

    3. Orlando

    4. Cleveland

    West

    1. Lakers

    2. New Orleans

    3. San Antonio

    4. Utah

    Wild Card 1

    1. Houston

    2. Phoenix

    3. Denver

    4. Dallas

    Wild Card 2

    1. Golden State

    2. Washington

    3. Toronto

    4. Portland

    Wild Card 2 Vs. East

    Wild Card 1 Vs. West

With this there is a chance East and West will face off and keep the NBA tradition alive as well as make it even.
