Should the NSW government be ashamed of the way it handled the APEC demonstrations?

I was in Sydney over the weekend. The Police reaction was over the top. Taking an injunction out against a demonstration days before it was to take place was designed to minimalise the protestors time to reply or appeal against the decision. I feel this sets a dangerous precident and we should be wary of government and police moves to limit our freedom of speach and assembly.

  1. I think that the Australian government had repeated warned its people ahead of the APEC; however, the protestors just simply wanted to break the laws as you heard about last year summit in Melbourne. Just imagining the amount they spent on security still couldn't keep these people away. What would happen if the Chaser stunt was organized by terrorists?

The whole thing has been a complete failure but I don't think the government was over the line. It was necessary to prevent another riot of last year G20 Summit. Protests were allowed, but just somewhere else.
