Question:

Should the NZRL drop the residency requirement to coach the Kiwis?

Brian McLennan was forced to leave his role as coach of the Kiwis league team because the NZRL won't allow people living offshore to coach the team. This leads to the appointment of coaches who aren't the best available. I think the requirement should be dropped. Agree? Disagree?

  1. Agree.

  2. I agree. I also believe that the KIWIS coaching role should be offered to Bluey again simply because, if the rule is wrong and it is changed, then the fact he was forced to resign by this rule, is also wrong and he thoroughly deserves another chance. After all, he has unmatched success as coach.

  3. No I don't think that the NZRL should drop the residency requirements, they should get rid of the likes of lowie and co. who got rid of the Bartercard Cup and it was only politics that got Kemble and co in there. McClennan came from Bartercard and there are still more good coaches running around in the domestic scene in NZ, i.e Perenara, Lomax, Clark, Stuart. Lowie and Chalmers stated that the Kiwi Coach was going to be someone who was currently active, yet Kemble, Leuluai and Prescott were all retired and just goes to show how much politics are involved. Looks like Lowie and co are going to ruin NZ League like how they couldnt control the Warriors when they took over.

  4. Definately.
