Question:

Should the Palestinians use force to regain their ancestral homeland?

It does not seem credible that the zionists will ever vacate the WB so there goes any hope of a so-called two-state solution. So other than an armed insurrection what alternative is there?

  1. The Oldest documents show that Palestine was apart of Israel, they can try to take but I doubt they will through the force,

  2. Yes. There is no alternative. Americans won their war of independence against the world's most powerful state; so have many other nations. The Palestinians must begin to prepare for an extended and comprehensive defeat of the zionists. They must be organized, unified and totally committed and willing to employ every resource at their disposal. Harvesting weaponry from enemy casualties is of proven effectiveness; the Viet Cong depended heavily on captured arms and ammo. I wish they would use the forthcoming attempted reoccupation of the Gaza to set it off. But they must be prepared for a long war.

  3. Yes. It was seized by force in 1948 and it will only be liberated by force. The izzies have no intention of even withdrawing from the mere 22% of territory they initially agreed to relinquish. This rules out a peaceful two-state solution. Their backs are to the wall; they are playthings of homicidal psychopaths. The Pals need to engage in a full-scale reveloution against foreign domination. I don't want to hear excuses about zionist military strength; if the Viet Cong could defeat the U.S. the Pals can defeat the zionist and liberate their country, from the river to the sea. I think they should.

  4. yes they should and god will help them ........

  5. yes we should !

    stop the stupid negotiations .

  6. I feel that violence should always be the last resort. After 60 years of torture, torment, famine, poverty, brutal treatment from others and down right homicide committed onto them the Palestinians feel there is not much hope left in relinquishing their home land or even getting a state of their own and being acknowledged as human beings.

What is it that we have all been taught at one point in time in our lives?

Fight for your rights. If you are being treated unjustly stand up for yourselves. That is exactly what the Palestinians are doing.

As for Israeli's a place to call home is something that has been out of reach for a long time. And we must not forget the aggression shown towards Jews throughout history. I do not in any way, shape or form feel that they are justified in their treatment towards the Palestinians but I acknowledge that they have too long suffered. I long for the two people to live in peace and harmony. But it seems so out of reach.

As a Palestinian I have love for Jews as I have love for all human beings.

  7. If there were any other alternative open to them than force, I would say "yes".

But since Israel is violating the basic human rights of the Palestinians, the Palestinians are left with only violence and rebellion.

  8. I am shaking my head at the ignorance of history in so many of the posts above and the original post.  And I am saddened by those who call for war because they think they are omniscient and "know" that Israel will not negotiate a two-state solution.  How tragic if such calls are heeded.

First, obviously, Palestinians and the entire Arab world, who have attacked Israel over and over for 60 years, do not have sufficient force to defeat Israel.

It is foolish to try, and just makes Israel not trust that it would be secure with a Palestinian state on its borders.   Bear in mind that if Israel had not been attacked in 1967 by the armies of Egypt and Jordan, Gaza and the West Bank would never have become occupied territory (why did Egypt and Jordan not give those territories to the Palestinians before 1967 anyway?)

If violence had never been used, there would have been a Palestinian state in 1948 as per the U.N. resolution - Israel never opposed this.

Second, the only credible statement about the peace process is that Israel wants a two-state solution with Palestine in the West Bank and Gaza.  This has been shown over and over again and an Israeli prime minister was assassinated for trying to negotiate this solution.

The only serious impediment to that solution is continuing Palestinian violence.  Given Palestinians stopping the violence, the Israeli minority against that solution would quickly be outvoted.  The only alternative is a unified Palestinian government able to control its people, stop the violence, and govern its own state in that two-state solution.  When BOTH sides stop the violence, they will be forced to trust each other.  Thus, even though I disagree with comments above that Palestinians should protest peacefully only to be killed by Israelis who will not respond with peace in kind - I agree with those posters about tactics - because it will show Palestinians that there will be no Israeli violence when Palestinian violence stops.   BOTH sides need to see the other can be trusted, and NEITHER side will see that while they are attacking and inevitably being retaliated against.

The terrorism just defers the eventual formation of that state.  Israelis will never be deported to their ancestors' countries of  Germany, Russia, Poland, Iraq, Morocco, Ethiopia, or wherever.  Palestinians will never be deported from the West Bank and Gaza.  The only credible solution is that the Israelis will vacate the WB for a two-state solution, in my opinion.

And those who deny the possibility of negotiating peace and instead fight a nuclear power with explosive vests and primitive rockets merely prolong the hatred and war.  Armed insurrection has done nothing for the Palestinians.  Their Arab brethren have done nothing for the Palestinians' national aspirations.  The only people who have are the leaders who have tried to negotiate a peace, on both the Palestinian and Israeli side.

I think Wabit's answer is wise and much more concise, and that Hildebrand's answer above is profound and correct.

  9. Peaceful resistance,Israel will still target certain individuals in Gaza and the world may finally notice what's happening.

  10. You are right that the Palestinians' peaceful efforts have been unable to regain their rights.  However, for the forseeable future neither will be armed insurrections.  If I were advising them I'd say no.

In terms of moral justification, they have the right to regain their homeland by arms - that being said there are a lot of innocent Israelis who would suffer if they were able to successfully attack Israel, so force of arms should always be the last resort.

A better strategy is to entirely forego the attacks on people and use peaceful invasions (returning and holding "sit-ins" on land, or in settlements  - using any force against objects such as walls)  Of course the Israelis will kill them, so I can't personally urge people to die this way, but the Israelis are killing them anyway.  That coupled with boycotts, divestment and sanctions - a difficult enterprise I admit when so much of what Israel exports is arms, and also legal suits against any Israelis involved in occupation or expropriation of Arab property for racist reasons.

  11. Bahira: We can ask ourselves how all the world former colonies ended or resolved.

I think both force and negotiations are needed to solve the conflict.

The Palestinians are at the last step toward solving the conflict.

  12. The Israelis cannot be beaten militarily , they are too strong . The Palestinians cannot be broken , they are too resilient . Sooner or later they will all have to sit round a table together & compromise . There is no military solution to  this conflict.

  13. Well they could try tolerance. I know it is not something that comes easily in that part of the world, but looking at the past and what they have lost one would think they might be willing to try it. Lebanon was once a very popular tourist destination that brought people from all over Europe and the world, no it is war torn disaster area, that no one wants to visit. Years of war have left that part of the world devastated and ruined. Violence has gotten them little other than disgust, and loathing of a fanatical, violent, dangerous, unstable people. It probably is not true of the majority of the individuals that live there, but that is the impression left by the vocal ones broadcast to the world. My personal advice would be to stop fighting the Israeli people and start learning from them. Yes, I understand they do not believe as you do, but let Allah handle that. They too are the sons of Abraham.

  14. ~~~

No. The Palestinians are not entitled to the Israeli's ancestral homeland.  They need help from their neighbors that treat them like dogs. Israel treats them better than their own "brothers."  This says alot.

  15. Actually, I strongly believe that violence is exactly the opposite of what they should do.  When violence is used against Israel (Quassam rockets lobbed at civilians, for example) it justifies and ratifies Israeli actions and aggression in terms of protecting their borders and citizens.  If instead of acting violently, if the Palestinians will instead (1) work together to do what they can with what little they have (improve living conditions collaboratively) (2) Document improper actions and aggression that may occur by way of video cameras and such (3) continue to work directly, by way of their representatives, and through sympathetic neighbors and international partners, I believe that they can come to a compromise.  Like it or not, they are going to have to recognize Israel's right to exist (they are too powerful to be pushed out with military force), and will have to work with the international community and Israel to come to a joint solution that both groups can LIVE with.  I think I will see it in my lifetime as it will likely improve quality of life for all.  Peace.

  16. Yes. I firmly support a war of independence. It's do or die for the Palestinians.

  17. no they should stop all hostilities and show the world what Israel is really about and they should put their trust in Allah

  18. "Palestinians" have been using force since they arrived in the area, it's been well known,  and well documented. It's just no one ever bothers to learn history. You ask it as if they don't use it.
