Should the President of the United States be more than just the President?

We all know that the President of the United States has a lot of responsibilities. The main one is making sure that the country runs smoothly during their term. Is the President just a mechanic making sure the economy runs well, or are they a role model too?

They should be more than the front-man spokesperson puppet for the real people running things that they are. The only ones who didn't follow the program (Lincoln & Kennedy) were taken out. They killed Kennedy 10 days after he tried to warn his beloved citizens of what was taking place...

The President's primary duties are to conduct the foreign policy of the United States, and to ensure the execution of laws passed by the Congress.  He has almost no control over the economy, nor should the president be a mere cheerleader.

The White House "Chief of Staff" (such as Karl Rove) is the "mechanic" or "conductor".

The US Treasury prints the money and runs the economy

Actually the President's main job is Commander in Chief of the Armed Services.  The President has very little control over whether the country runs smoothly.  The Congress has the responsibility of creating laws and spending money.  This controls the economy more than anything the President does.  

The secondary job of the President is as Head of State.  He is the figurehead that foreign countries view as the leader of the country.  

Should the President be a role model?  Absolutely.  He should is viewed as the figurehead for by not only those in the US but by those around the world.  This means if he isn't a good role model it reflects poorly on the country as a whole.
