A combination of their prospects such as Ian Stewart or Jeff Baker along with a pitching prospect - maybe Franklin Morales - for an A.J. Burnett type?

They are not that far out of the race but now is the time to make a move.....and they have too many bats and not enough positions right now anyway, not to mention when Helton comes off the DL.

  1. The Rockies should NEVER again try to force a good starting pitcher to pitch in their ballpark.  It has failed too many times in the past (see Hampton, Mike and Neagle, Denny).

What they need to do is continue developing pitchers through their farm system (their AAA team is in Colorado Springs) that can handle and adapt to pitching in the thin air at that altitude.

  2. the rockies need pitching!! they always have. trade away some young hitters to get some good young arms. i live in Denver, and  they need to get away from the idea to get hitters and try to get some arms. they have never had pitching since they became a team. anybody can hit here! so if they would get some pitching, they would be unstoppable. especially in the weak west!!!!! good luck Rockies trying to find some team to give up quality pitching.

  3. the problem with that idea is that no front-line starter actually wants to pitch for the rockies, because of the difficulties for pitchers in that ballpark...therefore they can't go after anyone who has any power to control whether or not they are traded, which takes away a lot of potentially available starters

  4. yEAH i think they should beef up on the hitting, that ball park isnt going to hold many balls in . They're best bet is to keep swining th e bat
