With more and more services being cut or,closed down by the Fatcats at the Royal Mail coupled with loads of job losses is it not time now for the People to regain control of what used to be the finest postal service in the world.

Or do you think differently.

  1. Th Post Office has not been privatised.

  2. I don't think it has actually been sold off so it still belongs to the People

as does the N.H.S. Therefore think the question shows a political stance which is not backed by reality. So far as rail etc is concerned most of the problems are caused by the government in not correcting

the original error of refusing to let the operating companies own the lines, most of the problems of delay are at the door of the re-nationalised "Rail Owners" failing to deliver

  3. I agree also all the train and bus services which are now worse than they were before and also cost more!

  4. Back to the people, along with a long list of other companies that have been ruined by the same thing. At the end of the day, the service is cr*p and the prices and profits are high! That goes for all privatised companies!!

  5. Judge John Knacker is right

Royal mail has not been privatised

  6. Absolutely, unequivocally YES. And I wouldn't stop there. I'd hand our public transport and utilities companies back to the state as well. They would be self-financing i.e. all profit generated would be pumped back into the company.

I think if you look at the balance of privatisations that have happened in the UK, they have been an unmitigated disaster as far as the public is concerned. The only "success" story of privatisation that I can think of is British Airways.

The  worst thing about Royal Mail is that it was one of the last great public services that actually ran efficiently. When the talk of privatisation began to surface, everyone was saying how it would ruin Royal Mail. Guess what, it did! It was like watching a car crash in slow motion. Now Royal Mail is a joke.

  7. Would you pay for those Red-letter or financial lost. Privatization can get tax payer off from those lost. Then turn the payment to those who use the service. It sounds fair.

  8. Definitely.. it was sheer madness selling it off in the first place.. Water companies should be re-nationalised next. Companies like the Post Office, Water Boards and the Rail did not need to be privatised.. just run properly.

  9. It hasn't been the finest postal system in the world since the 1950's. Other postal systems such as the Dutch & Germans far outstripped the UK.

Even though those perceived good times as you put it, everyone then said that something should change because of the poor service. Britain today still has one of the best postal systems in the world. There are many a lot worse off than Britain. The USA or Canada is abyssmal. Where I live I'm lucky to get two deliveries a week.

Everyone in the UK is complaining about how bad Gordon Brown's government, but if you want it to be taken back by his government, you must be a supporter.

  10. I  left  Royal Mail  two  years  ago  after  18  years  service. You, and  most  of  the  people  on  here  are  living  in  fantasy  land  if  they  think  that public  utilities  are  going  to  be  given  back  to  the  people.

  11. yes. give it us back! at least we knew it ran the way it should and the post offices would stay open.

no wonder they are losing money, every year they go and buy new vehicles costing 20 arms and 16 legs each.

they wouldnt know how top organise a pi55 up in a pub.

  12. Back to the people. Stop selling all our essential services to fat cast deteriorating our value for money. Exactly the same with the foreign water companies; they're pretty much all owned by French and German companies. They invest nothing in the systems (i.e. leaking pipes) simply charge the people more to make up for their inefficiency.

On the bright side I'm sure they'll sell it back to Britain eventually when profits dwindle or costs too high. They'll sell it for a ridiculous amount then we'll have to pay for all the repairs!

  13. you bet ye.

  14. Yes. Renationalse all public utilities. It seems to me that almost all those that were privatised, with the possible exception of BT, have needed massive subsidies from public funds ever since. Rail Network, for example, has had billions of pounds in subsidies and still the trains don't run on time and the fares are outrageous.
