Question:

Should the Royals and Marlins be kicked out of the league??????

I know every once and awhile they can pull together a winning season but yesterday the Marlins played the Braves with an opening crowd of 600. They are not pulling their weight with attendance or the product they put on the Field. This also means that big market teams that do everything they can have to pay them for barely trying to run a ball club

no ones going to cry because the New York, Boston, LA, and Chicago have to pay for spending so much on players and there should be some balance for the small market teams but to not even try and then get a check from teams that try to get better is ridiculous

if you agree or disagree tell me why

  1. is true what you are saying, i don't think is fare enough for other team to pay for their poor management, what i do think is the marlins should just get transfer to another state. like Virginia, Alabama, South Carolina, i don't know maybe put a team in Puerto Rico the played a could of games there , changes are always good but i don't think they should get rid of them just transfer them like the expo

  2. Why the hate for the KC Royals?

The Royals are my team, too bad you don't like it.

I live 3 hours away and I went to 9 Royals games this season. Get over it.

  3. No cause they do have fans but may not as be as many as the big market teams

  4. no we need the teams

  5. What Triple-A team has a +.500 record in September in the majors? The Marlins can play, they just don't have a huge fan base. I'd move them before I kicked them out of the league.

  6. I don't think so. It just makes it easier for your team, in their division, to finish at a higher spot!

  7. dis agree the royals are losing because they can not swing thier bats!!!

it makes me mad because i see gil meche have an amazin game and then he comes the royals for batting.  and guess what they can't!  the only one i see hitting is mike avilies.  so if the royals were hitting balls then maybe they could win more and if they did that for two years you will be seeing them in october for the play offs.  so i blame most of thier downfall on theri batting. also some of their relivers give up games for gil to.

  8. In the history of baseball, every team has had peaks and valleys, peaks and valleys. (old Johnny Carson joke)  I live in So. FLA, and it's awfully hard to sit in the Florida sun for 4 hours to watch teams that are just going thru the motions.

I think that if teams don't draw, then they might think about adding some more promotional events, but nothing fills seats like winning!  Just look at the Rays - worst to first!  Even the Rays, though, have had some off-nights in attendance.

My point is that last year,  the pundits were saying that the Rays should be folded, and if they had been, then we'd never see this wondeful team of has-beens and wannabe's reach, and stay, #1!

  9. if these big market teams really wanted to get them out, they could lessen their payroll, effectively not contribute to the luxury tax and see where the team goes.

I think with teams that are in trouble should be analyzed.

    Is this the ownerships fault?

    Is this the fans fault.

If the team is good and the fans are bad, the city should NEVER get a team again and be allowed to move.

If the ownership is bad, they should be forced out and give the city a chance to make the difference and then, if nothing improves, the team should move.

Letting owners move teams without a solid business reason is pointless.  (aka, Cleveland Browns moving to Baltimore).  Obviously fan support wasn't the issue there.

  10. You must've listened to The Herd this morning huh? He thinks both teams are nothing more then glamored Triple A teams and I have to agree with him. The attendance in the last 5 years for each team has sunk way below the average of other teams and their payroll is horrible.

  11. Kicked out of the league .....No!

The KC Royals are steeped in tradition. Their current ownership needs to

step up a little and they will be fine!

The Marlins are a tragedy and have always suffered from fan indifference. Great success with little or no support!

MLB should make every attempt to place them in a city which will support and appreciate them.

  12. No. You need sucky teams. But I bet you thought the same about the Rays or the then Devil Rays since they came in. Now look at them.

  13. Let me start with the Marlins. While it's hard to argue against the fact that the attendance is low, the Marlins have a winning strategy. In case you haven't noticed the Marlins have won 2 World Series since '97. That's more than the Mets, Dodgers, White Sox and Cubs combined. The Marlins receive prospects in trades for stars that they received in trades for their other stars. All the while maintaining a payroll that's very low. We could see another playoff appearance for the Marlins next year with Cameron Maybin coming up, Anibal Sanchez and Josh Johnson healthy for a full season, and perhaps the influx of some new talent in the offseason. The fans have never be kind to the Marlins, they are the biggest bandwagon fans in baseball, but with that said they aren't failures. A move to another city would help them get more fans, and more money, but they shouldn't be kicked out of baseball.

The Royals haven't always been a horrible team. They had great teams during the George Brett days including such players as Willie Wilson, Steve Balboni, Bret Saberhagen, Dan Quinsenberry, Charlie Leibrandt and Hal McRae. Now it's true they haven't had a winning season since George Brett in '93 but the organization has not been a complete failure. Every team goes in to periods where they don't compete albeit a long one. I can't see the Royals being kicked out of baseball, perhaps once again moved to another city.

One more thing I can't understand how you can be upset about the luxury tax. If anything baseball should have a salary cap (never going to happen). It makes the game more fair and bearable for low market teams. I can't imagine a team that doesn't win games, every organization wants to win. Some team owners focus on making money, which is absolutely important to most people, while trusting the general managers and other coaches to put together an acceptable team. The Oakland A's have one of the lowest payrolls in all of baseball and still manage to compete nearly every year. They have a certain method in scouting players which helps them sign players for cheap that other teams under appreciate. The book Moneyball chronicles the team and will change the outlook on any baseball lover. While I do understand your frustration... somewhat. I don't see any team purposely losing, this isn't Major League for god sakes. Some organizations are better judges of talent and make better decisions than others. I'm sure the Royals will come back and be effective as well as the Marlins.

  14. I totally disagree with you. First of all the Marlins are the lowest payed team in all of mlb and they have played beyond expectations this year considering they havent had their star pitchers for part of the year. Secondly, Dolphin Stadium really isnt the greatest place for a baseball team and the Marlins are TRYING to get a new stadium. They do get decent attedence when they play well but honestly i belive the stadium is the biggest problem
