Should the Simon Scarrow books be read in order?

I'm reading Centurion and was wondering whether I should read the Eagle series first? Is it part of the Eagle series. Amazon says it's book 8 of the Roman Legion and that the Eagle series are books 1-7 in the Roman Legion.

  1. I usually like to read any series in order.

    Amazon reviews says you should read 1st book 1st.
