  1. No. I think the only reason the Chinese have not attacked, and we them, is because we have such a good trade system. If we stop it won't be good for anyone involved.

  2. No but we should have a trade balance with them. In my college economics class we were taught that a wealthy nation is nation that can supply and make everything it needs. A poor nation is one that imports more than it exports. In the civil war President Lincoln made this comment about importing railroad rails in from England. If we buy the rails from England, we get the rails and England gets the money. If we make the rails, we get the rails and get to keep the money.  50 years ago we were a wealthy nation. Now we are becoming poor nation.

  3. Personally, I dont think we should ban imports but rather tax them through tariffs, while giving tax breaks to those who employ domestic labor.

Its almost like we are not an industrialized nation anymore. We have lost the ability to produce for ourselves, which really puts us in a vulnerable position. We need to produce more locally, so those who import cheap products (Walmart, ect) should be taxed double or tipple what they are paying now so that maybe they will start to look at domestic production to avoid higher taxes which will create local jobs.

  4. I'd like to see the privilege of importing things into our country made conditional on various things.  A willingness to pay our tax rates for example.

How would we live without cheap plastic c**p from China?  Oh I don't know, I guess I could scrape by.  It's not like we get all our food from there you know.  Which by the way is another point of leverage we can use.

  5. I agree with some of the others who have answered your question. I have personally made it a vow not to buy anything made in China (when and where that is possible). I am fed up with all of the plastic poisonous garbage that has inundated the retail stores in America that is from a developed country that pays it's expendable workers less than 50 cents an hour and prevents free speech. That's only a small fraction of the reasons (in toto) for rejecting the "Made in China" label.

  6. Not ban. I would like to see more things made in the US more company's working in the US. I would also like the US to take a stand against China's disgusting human rights policy's. That will never happen though. The Us is so  much in debt to China, we owe them way too much money at this point. What would be smart for the Us is to get a good budget and try to pay off as much of our deficit as soon as possible.

  7. They certainly would like to. The problem is that China is a significant trading partner and trillions of dollars is at stake.

People should beware of things made in China and look for alternatives. Never buy products for a baby that are Chinese. If it's made in Germany it's very safe.

  8. why? free trade has boosted economies throughout the world!

  9. And how would we live? 55% of our imports are from there. We are indpendant on them now.. can't turn around.
