With Russian entering Georgia and escalating tensions with U.S. missile defense systems going into Poland, should the U.S. intervene with military force to control Russia's dominance in Georgia?

  1. the reason there is a conflict is that the u.s is there in the first place....

do some research they armed the georgians and provocoted the attack,.....DO SOME RESEARCH AT LEAST GOOGLE IT!~!!!!! befoere you blame me

  2. What a lot of hooha...Russia is a part owner of at least one of the pipelines that run through Georgia. There are 4 of them. The oil and gas is apportioned to the various European investors including BP, Norway, Italy, France, Turkey and Iran. Russia also supplies a large percentage of Europe's energy needs through its own supply system.

The US has only one iron in the fire and that is military control of the world's energy. It wants to put military bases all over the world near oil and gas producing countries. This plan was spelled out in the Pentagon's base closure and building plan of 2005. (sorry, I forget the name of the legislation)

Russia has no interest in taking over the tiny piece of land that is South Ossetia. It was an autonomously run area even when it was a part of the USSR and refused to be part of Georgia after the USSR broke up. Caucasus is full of these tiny Republics that do not want to be ruled by outsiders.

Russia does not want missiles there and a good part of Europe wants the US to stay out of their business. They were about to invest in more pipelines but the US has probably put the skids on that. Hmmm, could be the real reason the US and ISRAEL have armed and trained the Georgian Army whose General is an Israeli dual citizen as is their communications guy.

Russia is pretty dang explicit. If the US puts anti-ballistic missiles there, they will take them out. If the US fires on Russia with other short range missiles in the area - they will fire on Europe. Europe wants to stop this c**p now.

Hopefully the UN criminal court who is already reviewing genocidal actions by Georgia on the South Ossetians will hurry up and rule on it instead of s******g around and letting the propaganda go on too long.

  3. the states ain't got the guts to tread on Russia! Cuz she knows he's back from his ashes due to the new economy politics applied in Russia by the ex-president, present prime minister Vladimir Vladimirovich PUTIN who transformed old Russia into a mighty, giant, super power of the world just like Stalin did in the 1930's. And yes, the new cold war has begun, d**n it! But this time it's not the clash of the ideologies but of the imperial politics which will eventually be decisive on who'll survive and will be the new super power boss of the new one polar world!  A NEW ERA HAS JUST BEGUN! PREPARE YOURSELF!

  4. the russian military is a bunch of drunk conscripts backed by nukes.

so no we won't attack...it is the cold war all over again with MAD as the answer - and no russia won't do a thing about 10 defensive missiles in Poland...because poland is in nato and we are forced to attack if Poland is violated.

no...and I said no...the reason is it would go nuclear - and the russians know that too.  We will not attack them directly and they won't attack us or our nato allies as Rice pointed out.

and russia did lose in afghanistan and got clobbered in WW1

  5. nope.

  6. heck no were spread so thin. if we went and attacked they would have no problem counteractin.

  7. ok, you are the commander in chief...you make the call.

I am most interested in knowing what you would do.

Also would you put missiles in Poland right next to russia as Bush has been planning on doing against russia's objections?

  8. U.S. wants to put military/nuclear bases in Eastern Europe right next to Russia.Of course Russians don't like that. But they're not planning on starting a nuclear holocaust.

The media is stretching this whole thing waaaay out of proportion. U.S. is already exhausting its military and economic power on Iraq.If John McCain is stupid enough to declare nuclear war on Russia just because of a territotial dispute over South Ossetia than I think he will get impeached (if he wins the presidency). Plus I doubt Congress would even approve such a war.

  9. No. US and Russia should cooperate, not fight.
