Question:

Should the US answer Russia's invasion with air support?

If we can't provide troops, I'm quite sure we can provide air cover for Georgian forces. I think after Georgia helped support our forces in Iraq, it looks very bad for the US to sit and do nothing.

  1. Stay out of it. Suppose mexico decides that it wants california back?

    Oh yeah. It did.

  2. No! The UN is in there trying to help, and we are spread pretty thin as it is. Not to mention that if we do such a thing, that would put us in a full-scale war with Russia. We could not handle that right now and it would probably cause world war 3 or something similar. It would not be good.

  3. Herkk..

Your not serious are you?..The Russians military equipment is so out dated(80's equipment)..Even the EU could put a big dent in them..Let alone the US technological advantage..We did go face to face with the Russians before..Korea..Vietnam..And a few other classified places..Russia also knows we could do it..Iraq and Afganastan are ground operations..Not mainly air operations..We have alot of free air power sitting around..

  4. refer to my other posts... direct US involvement in Georgian conflict= WWIII... the US has not let down Georgia. You have airlifted 2000 Georgian troops from Iraq and 4 planes full of weapons have been flown to Georgia from Jordan... the US will never risk problems with Russia over such a useless country as Georgia... they'll be overrun in less than a week anyways...

  5. It's a vary hard question. I want to say yes we should but yet don't want to see a total out and out war with Russia.  So much is at stake not just for us but for the whole world.

I'm sure this is what Russia is counting on, that no one will step in because no one wants all out war.

  6. No. We are stretched pretty thin right now militarily.

  7. 2 reasons the U.S. won't provide any support to Georgia

    1) IRAQ - The focus is still on Iraq, and trying  to stabilize that region. We can't move our soldiers from Iraq to Georgia. There's more significance in Iraq (OIL) than Georgia.

    2) ANOTHER POSSIBLE WAR - If the U.S. provides any military support to Georgia then Russia will take this as a war, and we don't need that. Having a conflict with Russia is the last thing we need. Although they aren't as advanced as we are they are still capable of holding their own. Plus they have Cuba and Venezuela on their side, so don't be surprised, if this were to happen, that these 2 countries would try to do something to us.
