Question:

Should the US divide into several smaller countries?

We're only 200 years old - the 'experiment' isn't working. The only other nations on the planet that are large like us have both fallen to communism and ruled by Uber-Authority. Looks like we're headed in that direction folks - not the communism part, but we're BROKEN. We're headed to a form of Fascism whether we like it or not...

SO, on that note - might it not work if we split into several smaller countries? Look at the northeast and the south: completely different in culture, beliefs, language, food... Then west of the Mississippi.... probably one more country there - then California and the Pacific northwest has been its own entity for decades...

Then maybe the governments could work on their own to make things better. The US is TOO big, and too many people want Absolute Power...

What do you think?

  1. If that happened it would be total chaos ,  states probably go to war against each other.

  2. We are already fragmented into special interest groups or socialist groups for our own good.

  3. No!

I disagree with the premises of the question.

  4. No.

  5. yes...

  6. we already tried that once. Remember the Civil War?

  7. Why do I think your an Obama supporter?

  8. Yes.

    California and the U.S.A.

  9. No. We go through a tough time and suddenly we should divide? Haven't you ever heard of the Great Depression? We've been through much tougher times.

  10. we are smaller countries.  We are independent states joined together in the Union.

the expierment is working despite a lot of people working very hard to dismantle it.

  11. United We Stand! Divided We Fall! The problems in the United States are not a result of the country being too large. The problems in this country can directly be traced to the fact that many in our society do not exercise their right to vote and therefore contribute to maintaining the status quo. We love to complain in this country, but too few us really try to make a difference.

  12. I think that is the dumbest idea I have ever heard.  Just because we are going through a tough time right now doesn't mean the "experiment" as you put it isn't working.  It's actually quite the contrary.  If it isn't working why are so many people here illegally?  The answer is opportunity.

  13. Personally, I believe in the vision of our founding fathers, and I think we should remain one country.

I was watching the HBO Series about John Adams over the weekend, which re-inforced to me the principles on which our nation was founded.  They are as relevant today as they were then.

  14. The number of people who want absolute power isn't more.  They've just changed names, new people.

The number of people that want the Experiment to work is bigger than ever.

Never confuse contentious behavior with failure.  Truth be told, our contention, our arguments, our disagreements are what make us strong.  We balance each other, because of free speech, because of free enterprise, because of free expression, and because of equality (battles my party made possible - Democrat - though I am grateful the Republican Party and many other people have helped make them household values with us).

We need brakes and gas no matter what direction we go.

Not working?  THEY fell, not us.  We're at war so prices for the one commodity the Middle East owns that we really want is going up.  That's a  surprise?  Our President ends up with a Democratic Congress.  That's broke?

    Nope, that's balance.

You want to split up the country because we're different?  We've been "different" our whole career as a nation.  We THRIVE on differences.  That IS the experiment.  It was never to make one culture, one belief, one language, one food.

It was to make one PEOPLE, and we have that, if we stand up for it.

I am a patriot who loves his country.  I am, second, a Democrat.

I am not a political bigot who hates half his country.  I respect Republicans for the fact that they often get things done that I don't want to spend my time on.  I'm a Democrat, not an Anti-Republican.

The Great Experiment is alive and well.  The problems with Mexican illegal immigrants?  Go see "Gangs of New York."  Amazing how relative the problems with "non-whites" are (in this case, the Irish, since "whites" was a relative term even then for those already here, which is why black Americans are some of the most vehement anti-illegal Mexican voters in the country).

Divide?  It's working as it always has.  Will continue to be.

Some of our opponents/enemies and even allies want us to break apart (those who want socialism, which as you say is a failed experiment, those who want Islamic government, those who want us to tone down various things so they can compete with us better.

These are short sighted people.  The breakup of the U.S. would send the world into a tailspin.

Just vote for ethics, every time, and we'll do fine.  If we don't, we'll get another chance every two years, and sometimes in four years.

    Wise people, our founders.

  15. You ever hear the phrase divide and conquer? How about the Civil War? Are you trying to start a War? Your idea doesn't make much sense so change your mind about it and live in peace.....

  16. Not a bad idea. But I would not say the "experiment" isn't working. Its only recently started to not work since more more and more power gets in the hands of the central government.

I think a better idea would be to return the power to the states! Which in effect would be almost like having 50 smaller countries

  17. Yes, I agree. Puerto Rico should be given its independence, and the socialist state of Kalifornia should become a separate country. We could rid our nation of millions of left wing fanatics and the 5 million illegal aliens in CA by making CA a separate country. Good thinking!
